Jonas has realized what is really happening in the community. He realises what “Realising” meant.
He realises what is happening people are getting murdered by people like his dad.
It’s a dark, groggy feeling of the the chapter because after this he leaves he takes Gab and leaves.
This part of the story makes me think about several things in my life.

The quote starts off after Jonas has witnessed the “releasing” of a baby that day. When this happened, Jonas was angry and shocked that this happened it. The Giver explained then telling Jonas that it wasn’t his father’s fault nor the community.

In other words, Jonas was feeling selfish that he only wanted to care about him and the Giver.
The author is trying to make us see that how the truth is affecting Jonas and his mental state of mind. It also shows how Jonas lived his whole life thinking it was perfect when he finds the truth.
This passage had a significant impact on my thinking about how Jonas was then and now, of course it shows us what happens in his life but it doesn’t matter right at this moment for what is happening. Some real world applications that can be drawn are how some of us act when we find out something that has a very bad effect on our lives,

When the Giver and Jonas had a plan to bring all the memories back to the community, which included Jonas having to leave, Jonas says “ “Giver,” Jonas suggested, “ you and I don’t need to care for the rest of them.” The Giver looked at him with a questioning smile. Jonas hung his head. Of course they needed to care. It was the meaning of everything. In other words as much as Jonas wanted the Giver to come with him, so they could live like the memories. Although they both knew without the Giver to care for them when all these things come back to them, and they can’t handle it. The author is trying to make us see that without the Giver there to help the community with all the emotions, and pain that will hit them at once, they will destroy themselves. He is trying to keep the incident that happened to Rosemary from happening. It shows us the pain and hardships they are going to face are to harsh. This story had a significant impact on my thinking about our society. In our world especially in some homes when parents mess up, they do anything in their power to keep it from being heard about or seen. They take shame in the things they have done, and they lie to their children to try and not make their mistakes spread. They lie about their history, and don’t tell the truth about their past trying to keep problems from arising, even though it makes it worse.

Jonas hung his head. Of course” as Jonas is trying to convince the Gover to come with him as he leaves the community. In other words although Joans wants the Gover to go with him, he knows the community will need him more than he does himself.
The author is trying to make us see that Jonas Loves the Giver but he also cares about all the people in the community and that Jonas is very kind and understanding.
This story had a significant impact on my thinking about how others matter too and that being caring is what matters most in life and helping others is what counts most.

Giver," Jonas suggested, "you and I don't need to care about the rest of them."The Giver looked at him with a questioning smile. Jonas hung his head. Of course they needed to care. It was the meaning of everything. Jonas wants a better life, and he also wants Gabe to have a better life and not have to deal with the strictness of the community. He wants The Giver to go with him so that the Giver can live freely as well.

In other words, Jonas wants The Giver to have a chance to leave while he decides to leave.

The author is trying to make us see that in the community that they’re living in, isn’t the key to their happiness. Jonas now realizes how bad it is for them.

This quotes is important because it shows that even though Jonas truly only cared about himself and the giver, it was for a good reason. Because The Giver was the one who showed him the different things in life. Real world applications that can be drawn to this is when kids at home never get to leave their house and have time to hang out with friends, they don’t normally get the chance to expand their socialization skills or just even make friends and have a good life. This story had a significant impact on my thinking about life overall. We aren’t in a completely strict community, and we get to see colors and we have more time to go do things. It shows me that responsibilities are always important but we cant let them control our whole lives.
