Objectives?

The project aims to involve more than 20 women aged 50+ in a series of meaningful activities and exchanges. Through their participation, the women will strengthen their engagement in democratic life, enhance soft skills, and build intercultural competence. The project also seeks to promote volunteering, self-confidence, physical well-being through sport, and a deeper connection to community life.

Activities?

The project foresees two exchanges where women from Croatia will visit Germany and two reciprocal visits where women from Germany will travel to Croatia. During these mobilities, participants will be encouraged to relax, connect, and actively engage in a range of workshops and activities. These will include interactive cooking sessions (such as baking bread or making jam), creative handiwork and DIY projects, guided tours organized by the women themselves, and workshops on digital competencies. In addition, participants will take part in sessions focused on EU values, civic engagement, and intercultural dialogue.

Abstract of the proposal

This small-scale partnership brings together women aged 50+ from rural areas of Croatia and Germany, with the aim of empowering them through shared learning experiences, intercultural exchange, and active community involvement. By combining practical workshops with opportunities for volunteering, sports, and cultural discovery, the project strengthens participants’ skills, confidence, and civic awareness. It also fosters intergenerational solidarity and supports the inclusion of women who are at risk of unemployment or face limited opportunities in their local communities. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to promote European values, create lasting connections, and provide tools for lifelong learning and active participation in society.

Target group?

The primary target group consists of women over 50 from rural areas, especially those facing fewer opportunities or being at risk of unemployment. A secondary target group includes the elderly people under their care as well as the wider local community, who will indirectly benefit from the women’s new skills, motivation, and engagement.

Main results?

The project will produce tangible outcomes such as a website, brochures, handmade items, and knowledge of different sports activities, all of which will be easily shared and disseminated within the older population. Beyond these practical results, participants will develop key competences, including digital and linguistic skills, intercultural awareness, self-confidence, public speaking, and the ability to engage actively in community life.

How will you develop civic engagement and knowledge of EU values?

Civic engagement will be fostered primarily through the promotion of volunteering, which reflects and embodies core European values. By engaging in joint activities and supporting one another, the women will not only strengthen their personal sense of belonging but also contribute to their communities in meaningful ways. The intercultural exchange between Croatian and German participants further reinforces European identity, while workshops on civic engagement will deepen participants’ understanding of democratic values and encourage them to share responsibilities as active citizens.
