American climber Balin Miller has died at the age of 23 while climbing at Yosemite National Park, his mother confirmed on Thursday.

Miller was attempting to summit El Capitan, Yosemite’s iconic wall soaring 3,000 feet from the valley floor, via the “Sea of Dreams” route when the accident occurred, Jeanine Moorman – Miller’s mother – wrote in a blog post on the VIRR website, the family’s outdoor goods business.

“This is unthinkable,” Moorman wrote in tribute to her son. “At this time, we do not yet know all the details. What we do know is that the world has lost an extraordinary soul, and our hearts are shattered.”

Moorman went on to describe her son as having “a touch of Robin Williams’ wild energy. Strategic, curious, and endlessly playful, he brought light wherever he went.”

"The harm to Ukrainian civilians has risen sharply with total casualties in the first 8 months of the year increasing by 40% compared to 2024." The humanitarian Rights council quoted. There's been a documented 50,000 civilians killed and injured, including 3,000 children since the start of the war. Attacks on power stations, gas facilities, and bridge continue to disrupt daily life and services. The human rights chief has said "the war needs to end, the toll on civilians and soldier and there families is staggering and heartbreaking." He said.

Two Jewish people were killed and three left in a serious condition after a car ramming and stabbing attack outside a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday.

The victims have been named as Adrian Daulby 53 years old and Melvin Cravitz 66. One of the victims was hit by police gunfire. The suspect, who was shot dead at the scene has been named as 35 year old Jihad Al Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent. The attack occurred during worship at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar, and is being treated by police as a terror incident.

One of the biggest fires happened near Los Angeles on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025. It was at an oil company, called "El segundo". Flames were towering around and the sky went from being clear, to Sky orange. Thankfully there were no injuries, but witnesses state it was horrifiying to see in the city of El Segundo. The fire team arrived aorund 9:30 Pm and saved others and helped put out the horrifying fires.

The Des Moines school district says it will pursue legal action against the consulting firm after the superintendent was detained by ICE

The Des Moines Public Schools board announced Friday it intends to pursue legal action against a consulting firm it hired in 2023 to conduct a search for a new superintendent, claiming the firm failed to "properly vet candidates" after the district's now-former superintendent was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents last week.

Federal authorities said the superintendent, Ian Roberts, is not in the U.S. legally and has not had any work authorization in the U.S. since 2020. He had served as the superintendent of the Des Moines district since July 2023 until his resignation this week following his detainment.

Summer, Joseph McStay, and their 2 young boys lived in Southern California. One day, without a trace, the entire family disappeared. A friend of the McStays says they really cared about each other and loved where they lived. After a while, they grew out of their small beach house and bought a house about 45 minutes away to continue their lives. On February 4th, 2010, just as they had begun home renovations, the family vanished with no trace. The family's car was later found near the Mexico border; This case remained a mystery until November 2013. A motorcyclist saw a small skull lying in the sand, and 4 other bodies were found and later identified as the McStays. Alongside the bodies, a sledgehammer was discovered; it is still unclear who did this to the McStays.

The Trump administration is reversing cuts to counterterrorism funding for New York after the president intervened, a person familiar with what happened told CNN.
