In June, the executive decision was made to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention, which was implemented to protect women and girls and allow them to lead safe lives. The withdrawal from this and consistent cases of femicide are violating one's right to security and life, specifically on the basis of gender. This is also a violation of Article 2, however, that is not the main article focused on currently. The webpage for the Office of the High commissioner quotes CEDAW: “By disengaging from its international commitments to fight domestic and other forms of gender-based violence against women, Turkey undermines the recognition of peremptory norms of international law such as the prohibition of torture, femicide, and other grievous forms of gender-based violence."

Article 3 could be considered somewhat vague, and difficult to enforce, leading to higher powers disregarding it. There is no set way to determine what constitutes "security of person", leaving to loopholes that could be used in a negative way. The people who are being migrated to Buchenwald are subject to brutal conditions against their own will, frozen and starved to the point of death. This also breaks one's right to life, as their lives are taken from them through the inhumane environment they are put in. Many casualties came as a result of this move, as mentioned in later parts of the chapter as well.
