To meet Common Core Writing Standard 9-12.1, by the end April 2017, 80% of our standard History students will meet expectations for this writing standard: they will be able to state a simple claim and provide relevant and accurate evidence and reasoning to support the claim. To attain our goal we plan to use formative assessment with a variety of historical prompts for students to practice. We will use the common rubric for this standard to measure our progress and adjust instruction as necessary.

BERC – Business, Engineering, ROTC and Construction
2016-2017 SMART Goals:

BERC this year will focus on greater integration of technology in our classes with the use of digital media such as Google classroom, Google docs and other digital media such as Prezi and Quizlet.
BERC will continue to collaborate in the implementation of common core standards in math and literacy. Through our collaboration we will identify two specific strategies that will enable our students to solve unique real world problems in both conventional and innovative ways.
The students will be assessed in their ability to use digital media to effectively communicate orally what they covered at the end of the unit. The focus of these presentations is for student to develop, implement and communicate their ideas and results to others effectively. Student will incorporate current and past Math and English concepts to classroom projects and real world work environments. These types of projects will enable our students to formulate solutions to these problems and describe the process and the outcomes.
BERC will also engage with all students to make sure they have a clear 4 year plan that encompass our curriculum but more importantly that they are on track to graduate. If we find students that are off track we will guide them to assure their success.
The time frame for is for 4th grading period in which we will have 3 other grading periods to evaluate the students progress. By the end of the 5th grading period our students should be 75% and achieving 85% by end of year.
