In Myanmar history, water festival was held since ancient times and became famous in the classical Bagan period. The purpose of this festival is to cleanse all the dirt, doom, and back luck of the old year and bring coolness, peace, happiness and pacify the minds of the people for the whole new year. Likewise, Mont Lone Yay Paw is a traditional feast to everyone during the festival to get new good things and turn unsuccessful things from old years to become successful in the new year. During the festival, groups of women and girls gather and roll balls of rice flour by filling with palm sugar or jaggery inside it and then put them into boiling water where they sink down for a few seconds. When they float to the surface, they can be taken with a colander and then served by garnishing with shredded fresh coconut. Sometimes, as a mischievous spirit of Thingyan, we put small pieces of chili peppers inside the rice balls to tease to intimate unsuspecting friends and families.
