What a week it has been! I still can’t quite believe the change in this house, and in myself.

Ever since that strange and wonderful evening with Mrs. Fitzgerald, everything has turned around. I used to think I was just meant to serve, cook, clean, smile, and stay silent. But now, I know better. That evening when I “turned bold,” thanks to dear Mrs. Fitzgerald’s trick, truly opened my eyes and, more importantly, opened the eyes of George, Doris, and Cyril too.

George actually made his own tea yesterday! And Doris offered to help with dinner twice this week, without being asked. Cyril even said “thank you” after I ironed his shirt, as if he had finally realised I’m not a machine but a person.

It’s not just their behaviour that’s changed, it’s how I feel inside. I walk straighter now, speak firmer, and no longer feel guilty for taking time for myself. I had a cup of tea and read a magazine in the garden this morning, and not once did I feel like I was “wasting time.”

Mrs. Fitzgerald was right. Sometimes, people need a little shock to wake up and see your worth. I only wish I’d done it sooner. But no regrets now—only forward.

From now on, I’ll be me—not just “mum” or “wife.” And I’ll make sure they never forget that again.
