This would be seen as chaos. Something could've been done to prevent the chaos that had been occurring throughout their lives. Rose Mary could've been the order to the chaos that had constantly ensued their lives. Then a page later more chaos ensues Rose Mary is stabbed by her own daughter, their whole family is going crazy and Brian is the order that straightens everyone out. Brain and Jeannette decided they would essentially give their father a nudge to push him in the right direction and started digging a pit which would be the foundation. "But since we couldn't afford to pay the town's trash-collection fee, our garbage was really piling up. One day Dad told us to dump it in the hole." They fill the hole which would've been the foundation to the biggest promise their father ever made to them.
