As stated in my narrative, the sweet scent of cotton candy would bring me peace and comfort. Though now I may have a different opinion on it, it's still a bittersweet scent. It used to soothe me, but now it just lets me reminisce on the good times.

The Chicken Coops

The chicken coops in the backyard of our house looked like this. Instead there were three if i remember correctly. I would walk there every morning, like I said in the essay, it was all a part of the routine. Now every time I drive past chicken coops like these, I think of the countless mornings I would spend with my grandfather.

Alzheimer's also plays a huge part of my narrative. It caused my grandfather to forget all the memories I made with him which changed our dynamic completely. Him forgetting his memories was a huge loss for me, but I didn't let that stop me from continuing to admire him. I remember a time when we were sitting on the patio of his house and my grandma was playing a USB filled with songs he would listen to. He would hum and sing along to some, which shows that some things stay in your memory for the longest time.

This isn't my house exactly, but all I remember about it is that it was a light shade of blue. It was surrounded in rose bushes and had a mulberry tree in the backyard. My grandfather's house was a shade of beige and he had a tire swing on a tree by the side of his house.

My story revolves halfway around my story. It's constantly brought up in my story and worked as a sense of comfort in real life and in my essay. It sits on a shelf in my room, now scentless. Therefore, memoryless. I don't like staring at it for too long because even though I've come to terms with the loss of my grandfather, it never fails to make me emotional.
