For this subject you guys will learn about different amazing adaptations plants have in different ecosystems. This goes hand-in-hand with ecology. Studying botany is bound to be boring if all you do is read from a textbook. Don't worry too much about terminology. Taxonomy and anatomy tend to be very terminology-rich, but you can learn it as you go. You'll retain it better.

I never really cared about botany until I tried using one of those fancy microscopes with a 3D image. During my undergraduate biology class, we cut open pollen capsules and placed them under the microscopes, and they were absolutely gorgeous.

Dissections can be one of the coolest parts of studying plants and they're crucial to understanding plant anatomy. Observing plants in their natural environment is crucial. I never really had any real understanding of ideas plants able to survive in various environmental conditions until I studies in detail on the specific structure. They often look very different from the drawings and photos in field guides.

Plant biology is the coolest parts of botany, and walking through real forests, gardens, wetlands can held solidify your knowledge. If it keeps you interested, try learning about really cool or bizarre plants, or weird aspects of everyday plants. For example, some plants are really aggressive in making chemical defenses against crowding from other plants. They basically try to off anything in their area. While curiosities like this are a relatively small portion of what plant science is about, they might help keep you interested, which is the most important thing.
