A perfect example is the impact of the first global war (WWI) that broke in 1914. The effects of this war was devastating to the soldiers and their families.   Soldiers were not the same when they came back from the war.  They were either injured or emotionally and mentally traumatized.  Some had nightmares; others became alcoholics; many became depressed.  All these made life very difficult for their families.  Millions of people suffered the torment and effects of war.
