Goals of the Women's Rights movement is to gain equal rights as men. Certain things of equally that were strived for by women was property rights, women's suffrage, reproductive rights, and even the right to work for equal pay. Methods used to gain these were usually political actions, though books were written, consciousness-raising groups grew, there was much protesting (in the streets, at rallies, hearings, and even at the Miss America Pageant), and a big organization started called NOW (National Organization for Women).

In the '60's the woman's world was limited in almost every aspect of life, from the workplace to the home. A woman could only go down one path which was to marry, start a family, and be devoted to homemaking. The average hours a week for women to spend on domestic chores was 55 and only 38% of them who worked were limited to jobs as teachers, nurses, or secretaries. Betty Friedan broke those stereotypes and thoughts in her book, "The Feminine Mystique," and she is sometimes credited with sparking a "second wave" of an American Feminist Movement (with the first wave being women's suffrage).

In my opinion the successful part of the movement was mostly the Griswold v. Connecticut Supreme Court case because it provided more freedom toward married women when it came to contraceptives, even if it was only small progress and did not apply to women who weren't married. The part I found that I noticed was not that successful, at the time, was the part of the movement that was trying to get women equal wages to men. If you look at the graph that was posted, you can see why I found it unsuccessful. Even though the movement technically ended, it honestly still carries on to today. The movement is stronger than before and though it is made fun of at times on social medias, and some of the women do not use very effective methods, women still push through. Now even though we most likely have the same amount of problems, or more, than the problems with women's rights during the 60's, such as women having to wear makeup just to feel like they're enough to a man, all we can do is use positivity and try to stray away from violence.
