I think one of the challenges I will have is how heavy the material and topics can be at times. Challenge
-Working full time (among other responsibilities), I'm struggling with the high expectations I have for myself. I tend to overthink things and want to put my best work forward. This causes a lot of anxiety as I take more time than I need to on assignments.

Dealing with political inequities that impact Black and Brown communities, educational experiences, identity, power, inclusivity, the list goes on.  These challenges expose how I and many others were and in many cases still are being treated.  Reflecting on my schooling from the 70-90's, and to some extent even now, are difficult to address considering how undetected many of the covert actions that were often at play.  The overt issues were obvious, but the covert actions...the political, systemic, and socialized aggressions or oppressions were much harder which makes learning how you may have been and in some instances still are being mistreated is professionally and personally painful. These topics are real, they are burdensome, they are tiresome, and they reflect the conditions this country and many of the current and historic systemic "ways" of  injustices that are ingrained in society.
 
Personal Challenges: I'm a parent with pre-k and elementary aged shorties, so homeschooling is a big concern with Covid/Omicron...my kids are young so protecting them, impacts my ability to focus at times on working, reading, and group work. It does not stop me from engaging or participating, but it is interruptive. I also work a full time schedule with part-time work at 2 other institutions, while maintaining separate public art contracts with the city of Seattle...
