Get students to brainstorm in groups all they feel is positive about competition - get them to identify statements they've heard about what adults have said about competition. Divide students into countries and have a mini Olympics (can be done with another context) - intro Olympic values for reference.Lesson one students participate in track and field e.g. modified shot put, long jump (standing broad jump) 20m sprint, and relay. Students pick who in their countries go into the events. Each round have students pull the drug card and they get to cheat on that event e.g. everyone else has to run with someone on their back, no run up for SBJ, throw a heavier ball etc. tally up points and reward the country on day one ahead in the medal table. Students then reflect on the attached critical thinking sheet in groups - they pick up the obvious drug card but also they tend to leave out students in their group in the quest of winning - you can hold one or 2 events back for the take action to allow inclusion after the critical thinking or halfway through to allow them to see how they've excluded and take action.
