There were three main styles for the columns. The one main one is the Doric. The Doric style of the column show a sense of maturity. They are often used in the Greek temples. A prostyle temple is a temple that has only pillars in the front. Those pillars are in the front of the temple. After some time passed, the Greeks like the look and the style of the pillars. It became more popular and used more in other buildings.
Becker, Jeffrey A. “Temple.” Khan Academy, 2018, www.khanacademy.org/humanities/ancient-art-civilizations/greek-art/beginners-guide-greece/a/introduction-to-greek-architecture.

The Olympian gods were the 12 most important gods in the ancient Greek religion. Each god represented or personified a different idea or natural event.

By having these gods, the Greeks were able to explain natural events like the seasons, storms, and more. The Greeks prayed to specific gods when they needed something. They believed that the gods would help them with different tasks. Each god had unique abilities, so each one held a special place in Greek religion.

Since the climate was warm and dry in Greece, the people had to have their way of living in a special manner. Their food had to be easily made from the land, which I think makes sense because if they were poor they could only grow their food. Only the rich people ate meat, also in their houses. That also shows why Odysseus' men didn't eat the really nice stuff, they didn't have much money. When boys would play their games, they'd lay while naked so the women and girls weren't supposed to watch. For work, the men usually farmed or fished, both were very big producers of food for the people and their families. Families would eat what they picked that day because growing was much less expensive than buying. Women would usually stick to housework and didn't get outside for work.
This is important because Odysseus and his men definitely could have played in these activities in their free time.
                            - - -
“Culture and Society.” Ancient Greece, University Press, 2017, www.ancientgreece.com/s/Life/.

The work and the sacrifices that all the people had to put in to get the limestone blocks into place. The first thing that came into practice was finding the marble and cutting it out. The work was tough and they used their hands and their body to do all the work. Then came moving the blocks. They were smart and tried to use every source possible. They were close to the Nile and they would use that to help take some of the burden off their shoulders. If not by the Nile, they would use a somewhat railroad system. They would roll the stone over the wood planks that were laid across to help roll the stone to get it where they wanted to. Another big part was the rope and animals.
O'Neil, Shannon Leigh.

The Greek people had a huge connection with the gods and everything they provided for the people. This video talks about how the Greek viewed their gods and how the gods would teach them something very important all the time. Learning about the gods was incredibly high up in their personal importance. It's easy to see how the nature seen there shows the "gifts" from all the gods to the people. Since all the gods were food, feeling , or weather related, the Greek people linked everything they did to the gods and how they helped the peoples' lives.

                         - - -

Visit Greece | Gods, Myths, Heroes.

Homeric religion was the period of time when the first clear picture of Greek religion was starting to form. It was named after Homer who wrote the Odyssey and the Iliad. The gods and goddesses were important and each city had a guardian, or patron, god or goddess. The gods had supernatural powers but were not omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent. The gods fought with each other and also intervened in human activities. This was the religious period that was around during the Odyssey.
                              - - -
Greek Religion. 6th ed., Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 2017. MasterFILE Premier, web.a.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail/detail?vid=0&sid=7f8021a5-03c8-4751-af01-19fc543f5f94%40sessionmgr4010&bdata=JkF1dGhUeXBlPWNvb2tpZSxpcCxjcGlkJmN1c3RpZD1zNjIyMjYzNSZzaXRlPWVob3N0LWxpdmUmc2NvcGU9c2l0ZQ%3d%3d#AN=39009697&db=f5h.

Since the custom of having a very close family, everything done is as a group, even since ancient times. Marriages are very big family events which include many of the closest members. Especially in the religious events, the family is all centered around the festivity. For example, a child's baptism gathers the whole family around to celebrate the special time.
This is important because the togetherness of the whole family is shown. The great family traditions are huge events and a large part of the whole family partakes in it.
- - -

Lovetoknow.com.

Other than warship, they had a huge business in trading. One of the key things that they traded were vessels. They used the ships to carry vessels to trade with countries. The vessels that we thing of were pots. For example, like garden pots or picture frames. While sailing across the water, they used seamen which helped to navigate at night and also during the day.

Cliff, Lloyd, editor.

This is the Ionic order. The Ionic order has a neat feature to it. It is the one that is most createful and has a lot of art work put into it. It has flutes on it, same as the Doric style pillars. But the one big thing that sets these two apart from each other would be the more vertical flutes than those of the Doric order. On top of the Ionic pillars there are two volutes that rest on a band of palm-leaf ornaments . One way to tell the Ionic and the Doric apart from each other is Doric has three vertical flutes and the Ionic has only two flues.

Hemingway, Colette.

To support the family and everything done by a family, people had to have jobs just like we do today. This picture shows the most common jobs and trades. It makes sense that miners and carpenters were very popular jobs because with all the stone and woodworking done back then, many positions had to be filled. Since religion was also extremely important to the ancient Greeks, being a priest was also a high-demand job. The picture shown shows other examples of jobs people had in ancient Greece.
                          - - -
SlideShare.

This temple is one of the most famous temple of Greek history. It is taken care of very well and spent a lot of time into make it sturdy and ready for anything. This awesome structure was built in the 5th century B.C to honor the goddess Athena. For which was the god that protected the city and watched over them. It is one of the most best sight seeing place to go at. People go there to look at the Doric and Ionic pillars and how they differ from each other. Another reason people visit is the design.

"Parthenon, Athens Greece." Ancient Greek Temples, 2017,
     www.wallswithstories.com/uncategorized/
     ancient-greek-temples-symbol-of-the-classical-architecture.html.
