This part is mindblowing because we knew Eddie would die, but the way he died was unexpected. I think that this was a very brutal death, as well as a very undeserving way to die. It is undeserving because Eddie was a good person, and to be killed in that way is terrible. I also think the way the chapter ends draws the reader in. It doesn't say Eddie dies, use readers make the assumption he does based off the events that happened right before, as well as the ending saying, "And then, nothing". This nothing seems to be what death is. It is not something you see happen, it just happens and then there is nothing.

I found this page sad. It is sad because Eddies father wanted a girl, and when he sees Eddie, there is a feeling of dislike. Although the father does then smile, it wasn't his initial emotion he felt when he had seen Eddie. I think that the fathers reaction is very reflecting on the fathers character. So far, from what we have seen from the father, he doesn't seem very involved in Eddie.

This page is funny because we see Eddie get teased by the people he's around in life. He is flipped over by Eddies fathers work friends, Mickey, and given birthday bumps. Mickey also seems like a better father figure than Eddies own father is. During this scene, when Eddie is first grabbed by Mickey, Eddies father just glanced over and then looked away. Although this page was funny, it is wholesome to see a father figure in Eddies life.

I found this page mind blowing because someone who Eddie seems to just meet, is apparently someone he killed. The Blue Man is the first person Eddie meets in Heaven, and during this time, the Blue Man starts to teach Eddie the first lesson in Heaven.

I found this page mysterious and made me think further. That is because when Eddie arrived in his second Heaven, there was a rifle dug into the ground, with a helmet and dog tags placed on it. The dog tags read Eddies name. It seems weird because this is done for soldiers who died in combat, yet we know how Eddie died and when he had died too. After I read this section, I thought about the suspisions we were told at the start of the book, that Eddie had hurt his knee in the war, and he had come home after killing one of his fellow soldiers. I thought that maybe Eddie had place the rifle and helmet for a fellow soldier, and maybe this fellow soldier is who he now meets in Heaven.

After reading the entirety of this chapter, I understand why the Captains face appears with a black substance on it. At the time, I thought that maybe the Captains face had this substance from a battle where he died. I also find it interesting that his second person is his Captain. I would have expected him to meet maybe a soldier closer to his rank. But, it makes sense that he met the Captain. Even if the Captain had not saved Eddies life, I think the would've met him because of the struggle they went through together.

This page is sad because we can see the effect that Eddies death had on the people he was around. His coworkers, that he had always worked with, wait for him to arrive to work, yet they know that he will not anymore.

I picked this part as unexpected because after hearing about Eddie and his fathers relationship, I did not expect for Eddie to see him in this heaven. I also find it strange that the other people in this Heaven are all injured or physically disabled. Many of the patrons are described to be physically wounded, some of which having deep gashes or missing limbs. It couldn't be people he served in the army with because there are little kids and women there too.

This excerpt is sad because Eddie just suffered a terrible injury, let alone the PTSD and trauma, but he is back home. Yet, his father does not seem pleased to see him whatsoever. It is also his birthday, and he has to stop himself from crying because his own father is neglecting him in a moment when he needs him the most.

This is a wholesome part of Eddies flashback because for once, we see his father smile and be proud about Eddie. Ofcourse, Eddie doesn't really seem to appreciate it now after years of neglect and violence, but it is still something different from before. It is also something that they bond over. Eddie and his father are bonding during the time they work together, even if its something little. His father trusts him with fixing things because he knows that Eddie can fix it good.

This might be the saddest part I have read so far. Although Eddie and his father had their differences, they are still father and son. To connect this to me and my father, we have had arguements before. Although after we are mad at each other, we work it out. A father and son bond is one of the most important friendships a man can have. It is something that is strong. Eddies father broke that friendship, and the silence damaged Eddie even further.

This quote is very important. This allows us to see the perspective that the Captain had on war. The Captain came from a family who had generations of soldiers. All he knew was war. I find this intersting because the Captain also teaches Eddie that his Heaven can be whatever he wants it to be, and that people also see your Heaven differently. Eddie saw the Captain smoking, saw the landscape as barren and destroyed, and saw the sky as grey. But really, the Captain wasn't smoking, the landscape was beautiful and green, and the sky was blue.

I really liked this scene because for the most part Eddie has not had anything good happen for him while in Heaven. When he gets reunited with his wife, its one of the best things to happen to Eddie in the entire book. Its also a emotional scene because Eddie had not scene his wife in around 40 years.

I think that this lesson is the most important because everyone can relate to it. In life, everyone loses people they love. This is why this lesson is the most important. The other lessons are good meaningful, but not everyone can relate to them.

This scene was sad because Eddie just got Marguerite back, and now he has to go again. I know that Eddie and Marguerite will reunite with each other, but Eddie must finish his journey first. Eddie has to learn the 5th lesson before he can return to her.

Although I expected this, this was still surprising. Eddie could've met many other people in Heaven, but he had met the shadow figure he saw in the hut while it burned, he met the little girl he accidentally killed. This Heaven is also frightening at first, with it being described with screams and the sounds Eddie heard when he was in the Philippines and burned the hut.
