It measures 93cm x 74cm.This painting is housed in National Gallery in London.
To begin with this picture depicts a natural scenery, which concludes one bridge. In the backround there are many trees and under the bridge there is a small lake with lilies. The colour who dominates is green. This colour belongs to the cold and dark colours. Moreover there is a brightness due to the sun rays.
When I see this painting, I feel serenity and happiness. Also the trees and the lillies sympolises the life because they are bloomed. The bridge shows the path of our progress.
Μένη Π.

Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo Da Vinci

Lady with an Ermine is a portrait painting created by the Italian artist Leonardo Da Vinci. It was painted around 1489-1490 and belongs to High Renaissance period. The painting measures are 54 by 39 cm and it is painted in oil on a somewhat small, walnut wood panel. It is housed at the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków and is one of Poland's national treasures.
Leonardo Da Vinci was commissioned to paint this portrait by Ludovico Sforza, the Duke of Milan. In the foreground, it illustrates Cecilia Gallerani, Sforza's 16-year-old mistress. In her arms, she holds a white weasel, also called an ermine. As for the background, it is dark, which makes the woman with the ermine more focused on the painting. She is depicted from the waist up in an ornate dress with full sleeves, a beaded necklace and a plated hairstyle. The colours which the Italian artist used on this painting is blue and red for the woman's dress, brown for her hair, a pale peach for her skin tone and for the ermine, too. The black colour is also used on this painting for some of the woman's decorative elements, like her necklace.
Seeing the portrait, it gives me a serene and a vibrant vibe. The way the colours of the ermine and the woman's dress give vibrancy and the way she holds the ermine, it's so realistic and peaceful. Also, the way she looks and is posed, it gives a sense of confidence, peace and dynamism. In my opinion, this portrait painting symbolises the love they have for each other and the strong bond and trust between them. The way they both have the same serene looking and the way the woman holds the ermine, I think that these are symbols for real love, strong bond and trust.
                                          Εμμανουέλα

Moreover, the sensuous curves of the sitter’s hair and clothing are echoed in the shapes of the valleys and rivers behind her. In its exquisite synthesis of sitter and landscape, the Mona Lisa set the standard for all future portraits.

This painting makes me feel very serene and peaceful. The smile of the woman, the colors of the painting is just something from another world. The sense of overall harmony achieved in the painting especially apparent in the sitter's faint smile reflects Leonardo's idea of the cosmic link connecting humanity and nature.

ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ ΠΑΠΑΦΥΛΑΚΗΣ Ο ΠΡΟΕΔΡΟΣ

"The Scream" is considered a masterpiece of modern art and was painted by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch in 1893. The painting is relatively small, measuring just over 9 inches in height and just under 6 inches in width. Moreover, it is painted in oil on cardboard and it is housed Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway.
"The Scream" is a painting that depicts a figure standing on a rocky outcropping, with a distorted face and open mouth, seemingly in the midst of a primal scream. The figure is surrounded by a turbulent and chaotic landscape, with swirling clouds and turbulent seas in the background. Furthermore, the painting is characterized by bold, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant, saturated colors, which give the painting a sense of energy and movement. The composition of the painting is dynamic, with the figure of the screamer occupying a central position and the turbulent landscape swirling around him.
Additionally, "The Scream" is often seen as a powerful and disturbing work of art that captures the sense of anxiety, fear, and isolation that people may feel in modern society. At the same time, the painting's expressive style and use of vibrant colors can also be seen as captivating and engaging, and it may inspire feelings of awe and admiration in some viewers. In terms of what the painting symbolizes, "The Scream" has been widely interpreted as a commentary on the modern condition and the human experience of anxiety, fear, and isolation. It has also been seen as a representation of the artist's own struggles with mental health and his feelings of alienation from society. The figure's distorted face and open mouth have been interpreted as a representation of the primal scream that people might feel in the face of overwhelming adversity. The chaotic and turbulent landscape in the background of the painting has been seen as a metaphor for the stresses and challenges that people face in their daily lives. Overall, the painting is a powerful and evocative work of art that speaks to universal human experiences and emotions.

ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΣ ΠΑΠΑΦΥΛΑΚΗΣ

The Starry Night is an oil-on canvas painting by the Duch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889. It has been in the permanent collection of the museum of modern art in new work city since 1941. Widely regarded as Van Gogh's magnum opus, The Starry Night is one of the most recognizable paintings in Western art.
Although The Starry Night was painted during in Van Gogh's ground-floor studio, it would be inaccure to state that the picture was painted from memory. The view has been identified as the one from his bedroom window, fancing-east, a view which Van Gogh painted variations of no fewer than twenty one times. He depicted the view at different times of the day and under various weather conditions, such as the sunrise, moonrise, sunshine field days, over cast days, windy days and one day with rain.
I see both a peaceful and a sad painting because there are not people in it and because of its dark colours. I think that it symbolizes the simplicity and beauty of nature and the impact that it has on the psychology of people.

Ελπιδα Σ.

Guernica by Pablo Picasso

The artpiece named "guernica" has to be one of the most well known pieces of all time, since its name has spead on a massive scale, reaching every corner of the wold. It was painted by the distinguished artist Pablo Picasso in 1937. It is an extraordinarily massive painting which reached 3.49 meters in height and 7.76 in length. It is an oil-on-canvas painting which is greatly influelced by the ideas of the cubism and the surrealism movements.

This noteworthy piece of art, despite the simplicity it may emit at first glance, holds great importance in the history of art. Picasso's decision to only include black, white and shades of gray in his creation wasnt a poor decision of the artist. Instead it provided the painting with a feeling of the dark and lifeless air that was destined to surround it. Aside from the piece's importance in the world of arts, it also holds a significant place in the formation of the world as it is now, since its influence on the public played a major part in the events of World War II. Guernica portrays an enormous amount of various obscure war scenes. Prominent in the composition of the artpiece are a gored horse, a bull, screaming women, a dead baby, a dismembered soldier and flames, as well as many humanoid figures accompanied by horrified and petrified expressions drawn on their faces. Pablo Picasso came to the construction of this work in response to the 26 April 1937 bombing of Guernica, a Basque Country town in northern Spain that was bombed by Nazi Germany and Facist Italy at the request of the Spanish Nationalists. Picasso's objective to raise awaewness on the horrying incident that created such a hazardous chaos had been fullfilled in just a few months after the consummation of his creation. Upon completion, Guernica was exhibited at the Spanish display at the 1937 Paris Interrnational exposition, and then at other venues around the world. The grossing of the touring exhibition was used for Spain's war relief. Furthermore, the painting soon became famous and widely acclaimed, and it helped bring worldwide attention to the 1936-1939 Spanish civil war.

Aside from the piece's contribution to the formation of the current art world, as well as the culmination of the second World War, the expectetions of the artist's intended feelings for this artistic creation were surely met. Picasso aimed to project the brutality of the war and push the public out of their comfort zone. Unlike other aspects of the artistic community whose goal is to escape reality and view the world from a more imaginative perspective, Picasso wanted to awaken the world to the harsh reality of war.

ΡΑΦΑΗΛΙΑ Σ.

It was painted at some point in 1907 and 1908. The painting measures 180cm x 180cm. The painting now hangs in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum in the Belvedere, Vienna, and is considered a masterpiece of Vienna Secession and Klimt's most popular work.

Gustav Klimt depicts the couple locked in an intimate embrace against a gold, flat background. The two figures are situated at the edge of a patch of flowery meadow that ends under the woman's exposed feet. The man wears a robe printed with geometric patterns and subtle swirls. He wears a crown of vines while the woman wears a crown of flowers. She is shon in a flowing dress with floral patterns. The man's face is not shown to the audience and instead, his face is bent downward to press a kiss to the woman's cheek, and his hands are cradling the woman's face. Her eyes are closed, with one arm wrapped around the man's neck, the other resting gently on his hand, and her face is upturned to receive the man's kiss.

I think the painting stands for peacefulness and romance

Ελένη Β.

The original oil skech of the painting is at the Kröler-Müller Museum in Otterlo. The painting is considered to be one of Van Gogh's masterpieces. The dimensions of the painting are 82cm × 114cm.

Vincent van Gogh saw thr Potato Eaters as a showpiece, for which he deliberately chose a difficult composition. The painting had to depict the harsh reality of country life, so he gave the peasants coarse faces and bony, working hands. He wanted to show in this way that they 'have tilled the earth themselves with these hands. Van Gogh painted the five fingures in earth colours-' something like the colour of a really dusty potato. The message of the painting was more important to Vincent van Gogh than correct anatomy of technical perfection. He was very pleased with the result yet his painting drew considerable criticism because it's colours were so dark.

Finally, this painting expresses the sad feelings because the colours are quite dark. This painting symbolizes the hard work of the farmers.

Γιαννης Σουλης

It is considered a masterpiece of post-impressionism and its painting technique is oil on canva. The painting's measures by cm are 80,7 x 65,3 and it is housed in Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands.
The painting is a cityscape that is identified to depict the real location of the café which is in the village of Arles' Place du Forum in the southern parts of France. On the background we can see a blue sky full of Van Gogh's unique star motifs. On the middle ground there are buildings and houses with the lights on inside. And definitely on the foreground there are people sitting on the terrace probably enjoying their coffee and a waiter taking an order. Also there are peope walking down the street, passing by the café. In that painting there is used a mix of warm and cold colours, for example we can see yellow and orange but we can also see blue and green. The colours are mainly bright, brilliant and dark.
In conclusion, when i see this painting my feeling are joy and happiness firstly because of the mix of colours used in it and secondly cause i think that the people in this painting symbolise the life and communication between humans.

ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ Ν.

The Persistence of Memory

The Persistence of Memory(1931) is one of the most iconic and recognizable paintings of Surrealism. Frequently referenced in popular culture, the small canvas (24x33 cm) is sometimes known as “Melting Clocks”, “The Soft Watches” and “The Melting Watches”. The painting depicts a dreamworld in which common objects are deformed and displayed in a bizarre and irrational way: watches, solid and hard objects appear to be inexplicably limp and melting in the desolate landscape. Dalí paints his fantastical vision in a meticulous and realistic manner: he effortlessly integrates the real and the imaginary in order “to systemize confusion and thus to help discredit completely the world of reality”. When asked about the limp watches, the artist compared their softness to overripe cheese saying that they show “the camembert of time”. The idea of rot and decay is most evident in the gold watch on the left, which is swarmed by ants. Ants are a common motif in Dalí’s art, they are usually linked to decay and death. He set the scene in a desolate landscape that was likely inspired by the landscape of his homeland, the Catalan coast. According to Dalí, the self-portrait was based on a rock formation at Cap de Creus in northeast Catalonia.

The melting watch, one of Dalí’s most powerful and potent motifs, continued to play an important role in his art. Two decades after The Persistence of Memory, Dalí recreated his famous work in the painting The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory (1952-1954). As the title suggests, the painting shows the disintegration of the world depicted in the original painting, reflecting a world changed by the nuclear age. The painting showed Dalí’s growing interest in quantum physics: he added rectangular blocks that represent “the atomic power source” and missile-like objects that reference the atomic bomb.

The Persistence of Memory was first shown in 1932 at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York. In 1934, the painting was anonymously donated to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where it remains until this day.

Φαιδρα Κ

Maternity by Picaso

Picaso's Maternity belongs to the artist's neoclassical period, during which he developed a style reminiscent of classicism and used mythological images such as centaurs, minotaurs, nymphs, and fauns. He also created at least a dozen pictures inspired by and dedicated to motherhood and the special relationship between mother and child. The women in these paintings resemble antique statues suddenly given life. They are solid and powerful, like ancient goddesses, and are painted in quiet tones of gray and rose. They are all Great Mothers, connected to the earth.

Though some of Picasso's neoclassical mother-and-child canvases are not large in themselves, the effect of any one of them seems larger than life. Maternity shows a woman clothed in a classic white dress as she holds a squirmy baby on her lap. She is so totally absorbed with her child that she does not know we are watching them. Their interaction is both animated and tranquil, evoking a tender lyricism and the calming spirit of motherhood. Picasso's neoclassical period lasted until about 1925, when his art moved in still another direction.

John Karanakis

Known as the “Birth of Venus”, the composition actually shows the goddess of love and beauty arriving on land, on the island of Cyprus, born of the sea spray and blown there by the winds, Zephyr and, perhaps, Aura. The goddess is standing on a giant scallop shell, as pure and as perfect as a pearl. She is met by a young woman, who is sometimes identified as one of the Graces or as the Hora of spring, and who holds out a cloak covered in flowers. Even the roses, blown in by the wind are a reminder of spring. The subject of the painting, which celebrates Venus as symbol of love and beauty, was perhaps suggested by the poet Agnolo Poliziano.
It is a painting by the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli, probably executed in the mid 1480s

Παναγιώτα Διαμαντίδου

The Old Guitarist is an oil painting by Pablo Picasso, which he created in late 1903 and early 1904. It depicts an elderly musician, a haggard man with threadbare clothing, who is hunched over his guitar while playing in the streets of Barcelona, Spain. It is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago as part of the Helen Birch Bartlett Memorial Collection. It was painted during the time of Expressionism. The dimensions of the painting are 122.9 cm × 82.6 cm.

The subject of the Old Guitarist is one of the most haunting pieces created during Pablo Picasso's blue period. Depicting a haggard, blind guitar player, the piece encompasses Picasso's fascination with the societal outcasts he saw when traveling through Spain.Picasso used dark blue hues for The Old Guitarist, giving the piece an added sense of melancholy. The color scheme is almost monochromatic, creating a flat, two-dimensional form. This gives the guitarist a sense of timelessness, as it is impossible to decipher a time period or even a place that he inhabits.

Finally,as such the Old Guitarist was painted to not only represent Picasso's criticism of society, but it was also created as a metaphor for human existence. Since the Old Guitarist was created during Picasso's Blue Period, the painting represented a great deal of sorrow and grief.

Δημήτρης Δέτσκας

San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk by Claude Monet

Saint-Georges majeur au crépuscule refers to an Impressionist painting by Claude Monet, which exists in more than one version. It forms part of a series of views of the monastery-island of San Giorgio Maggiore. This series is in turn part of a larger series of views of Venice which Monet began in 1908 during his only visit there. The painting is a land in Italy and was painted in 1912 and belongs to Impressionism. Also it painted with oil on canvas. The painting measures 65.2 cm × 92.4 cm, it is in the monastery-island of San Giorgio Maggiore. It depicts mysterious buildings that seem to magically appear from the surrounding landscape, they almost seem to float in the background. The forms are gently inserted, though not enough to disguise their identity. The painting focuses on the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore with its bell tower rising to the top of the painting. To the right are the faintly visible domes of Santa Maria della Salute and the mouth of the Grand Canal.

This painting makes me feel a lot of fealings. I feel peaceful, trenderness and stillness. The paintings focused on the ‘nature of experience.’ He was particularly impressed by the Venetian sunsets, these splendid sunsets which are unique in the world. ΗΡΑΚΛΗΣ ΤΣΙΤΛΑΚΙΔΗΣ
