Similarities: Both Victor and Captain Walton crave glory. They both long to make some valuable contribution to the human race and to be remembered forever, held up as heroes who accomplished something that no one ever had before.

Differences: Walton is able to learn from Victor's mistake, while Victor was never able to repair his life and make amends. Instead, he became obsessed with revenge. Walton will not follow Victor into that destructive state.

When I think of parallel characters, I think of characters who mirror each other, sharing the same traits.

Part two:

Both are curious and willing to learn. Robert wanted to learn more about the world, and Victor wanted to learn more about the scientific side of life. Both are adventurous, as Robert was brave enough to venture out into the world, while Victor was courageous enough to take a step ahead and attempt hands-on practicals. Both are also very determined. Even when faced with challenges, they managed to find solutions to their problems and solve them with ease. They also have an unhealthy obsession with their passion, with Robert wanting to explore the world, and Victor wanting to learn more about science. Robert had a sister, Margaret, while Victor had an adopted cousin, Elizabeth, thus both of them had someone to grow up with.

Part three:

Robert puts his family before his passion of exploration, while Victor focuses on his passion of science. Robert was somewhat extroverted due to his longing for a friend like himself, while Victor was introverted and focused all his attention on his work. Robert recruited a crew to accompany him on his exploration, while Victor worked in solitude.

Robert and Victor both like taking risks. They are adventurous and they like to uncover the earth’s secrets and delve deep into the unknown. Robert is an explorer who travels into unknown lands and explore new places of the Earth. Victor is a scientist, who delves deep into the sciences, exploring a world of possibilities that have yet to be uncovered. 

Robert and Victor both have families waiting and worrying for them back at home. Both of them receive letters periodically, implying that their families in a faraway place are worried for their wellbeing. This also shows that both Robert and Victor care for their family, despite not being physically present. Both write in letters to check in on their family, and both are concerned with their families current situation. 

Differences:

Robert explores the world of nature. Victor explores the nature of the world. 

Robert likes working in groups. Victor likes to work alone. 

Robert is respected as a sailor. Victor work often get ridiculed.

Robert is the one being told the story. Victor is the one telling the story. 

Victor and Robert are both ambitious people, they crave for knowledge to be greater than most men. They want to acknowledged for their works, maybe even more than their want to know more. Both characters are determined, driven by their thirst for more. To be more, to know more. They want to be remembered and find meaning in life. Both men are smart however lack wisdom. 

Differences

Unlike Victor, Robert had someone to tell him to stop, to think with his head and stop following his desire for power. Victor had been sucked too deep into the black hole to get out, in the end he wanted revenge instead of fixing his problems. He ran away instead of facing them. With Victors story about how he failed so badly at life, Robert can learn that he can be ambitious but there is a time to stop. He learnt to use the brain we assume he has

Differences: 

Walton was able to learn from his mistake but Victor was obsessed with revenge and went into a destructive state. 

Walton wants to improve existing life but Victor went beyond that and had unreasonable thoughts.

Differences 1. They have different interests. For Robert is to explore the North Pole, for Victor is the secret of human body and alchemy. 2. Victor was highly educated whereas Robert wasn’t.  3. Robert eagerly longs for companionship and friendship and is more sympathetic whereas Victor appears to be more independent(affactionless?). 

- They crave success even if it means risking their lives.

- Both have an amazing amount of ambition.

- They love their family.

Differences: 

- Robert is interested in exploring the world while Victor is more into science. 

- Robert works with a team while Victor experiments on his own. 

- Robert is aware of his actions and their risk while Victor is impulsive on his decisions.
