1. Ron bought 5 packets of soap. Each packet contained 7 pieces of soap. He sold one packet of soap to a customer. Write an equation that would express this scenario.

Step 1: Dissect

Explanation: Ron bought 5 packets of soap. We have 5. Equation = 5 packets

In each packet, there were 7 soap bars. We have 5 packs of 7. or Equation = 5 packets x 7 bars.

He sold 1 packet of soap to a customer. He gave a packet to the customer. (5 packets – 1 packet) x7 bars

Total number of soaps = (4 packets) x 7 packets = 28 soap bars
