         <description><![CDATA[<div>What have you learned about your innovative technology?</div><div> </div><div>Since experimenting with GeoGebra, we have learned that you can do geometry, and algebra problems with the grid that is given. Also, there are over a million math learning activities that students have access to. </div><div> </div><div>How will it help you build Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge (TPaCK)  in your students?<br><br></div><div>This activity will help us build technology, because we are using an interactive application that will get the students excited to learn geometry. Geogebra will also help us build Pedagogy, because with this application, students can visually see the shapes and can point out the characteristics of those shapes instead of just viewing the shapes on a board. Also, Geogebra can help students understand the content, because by playing around on the application, students will be able to learn more than by just doing a worksheet.                                                        <br><br></div><div>How does your activity, lesson and technology encourage “Worthwhile Tasks”? (VandeWalle p. 47)<br><br></div><div>Our activity, lesson, and technology encourages “Worthwhile Tasks” because students can look for patterns in the shapes, predict and check for reasonableness, and can visualize what we are trying to teach them.<br><br></div><div>Connect to VandeWalle for support of your content instruction.<br><br></div><div>For our activity, we are going to have the students connect the dots that will already be on the grid. After they connect the dots, they will make polygons. Then, we can ask them about line segments, shapes, line symmetry (identify and draw themselves), and about parallel and perpendicular lines. We chose this activity, because it “enhances the learning of mathematics by allowing for increased exploration, enhanced representation, and communication of ideas (VandeWalle, 6).” In other words, students will learn more about geometry if they can explore geometry in an interactive way. <br><br></div><div>Do your plans and technology it support “Productive Struggle”?<br><br></div><div>Our plans and technology do support “Productive Struggle” because if students are having a hard time doing the activity, we can make sure to ask them probing questions to see if they can figure out how to do the problem on their own without us just telling them how to do the problem.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-To add onto Discussion #1, one of the ways you could use Geogebra&nbsp; to teach geometry is to show them the common misconceptions of the topic. For example, if there is a common misconception, you can visually show the geometric shapes and how those misconceptions that the students might have are wrong and why.&nbsp;<br>-"Through the making of physical models, students can focus on the attributes and components that are central to defining each shape (Van de Walle, 564)." We think that Geogebra would help with students seeing the attributes and components of each shape because with this technology, they can draw each shape/line segment/line of symmetry and visually see the properties.&nbsp;<br>- One thing we have learned about our innovative technology is that you can make 3-D models of shapes. This is really cool because in the real world, almost everything is 3 dimensional and with showing shapes in 3-D, students can make connections to the real world when learning these geometric concepts.&nbsp;<br>-With Geogebra, you can also teach location which "includes a study of coordinate geometry or other ways of specifying how objects are located in the plane or space (Van de Walle, 548)." This is really neat because students can start to have an understanding of the coordinate plane.&nbsp;<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This week we started to focus on our lesson plan. We are going to put the Common Core State Standard, the objective, the misconceptions, and the steps for the lesson. We think that this lesson will be more effective than a worksheet because the students will be more interested when technology is involved. Also, with Geogebra, students can visually see the shapes and can explore lines of symmetry and the differences of shapes better than they would with a worksheet.</div>]]></description>
