On 1895, a historic event happened for our family. My great-grandpa Benjamin was born! He grew up to be a smart young boy, who had a religious background during his childhood. He lived in a place that was found in Russia, now a part of Belarus, called Shklov.

1918

At just 23, my great grandpa Benjamin the first ever man to immigrate to America! He heard moans and groans all over the ship, and many green faces as he was emigrating from Russia. He was scared, as were many others immigrating to America, but as he was on the ship, he held onto his hopes and dreams for the Land of The Free!

Married to my great grandmother, Eva Dora, on 1922 was a big event for great grandpa Benjamin. He met her in Brooklyn, New York, being introduced by the neighbors. He was 24 when they met, and 27 when he married her. Eva Dora was 17 when she met Benjamin and 18 when they married.

One of the most historic events happened on this day! Great grandpa Ben’s first child was born! His name was Chi Harris, and his name meant Life. I think great grandpa Ben named him this because while he was immigrating, he was scared and might have not known if he was going to make it as far as America.

1955

Even though he lived longer than he expected, he sadly died on 1955. This date struck sadness into all of the people who admired great grandpa Benjamin and his goal of becoming the first ever person in the Harris family to immigrate. It must have been hard for him to have had to leave his home and go someplace completely different to live there for the rest of his life. In the end, though, he had left his home to America, and started his new family there. His feat of greatness inspired many people in my family.
