Description

They are large specimens, as they can measure up to 1.5 m long and weigh 72 kg . They have long limbs and their distinctive characteristics are the presence of a small head that has two black lines that run from the eyes to the snout. Its color is yellowish with small black spots and at the tip of the tail it has black circles that resemble rings. Compared to the rest of the felids, its claws are not retractable and it differs from leopards by having very thin bodies .

Feeding

These cats feed mainly on medium and large ungulates such as Thomson's gazelles, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests; Other prey are land birds and hares. It usually hunts at dawn and dusk to avoid competition with other predators. Females with young usually do so daily, while males do so every 2-5 days . When chasing their prey, they use their tail as a rudder to run very fast in different directions.
