         <description><![CDATA[<div>1898년 4월 8일 ~ 1959년 8월 10일<br>일본 도쿄에서 태어난 우장춘은 대한민국 국적의<br>&nbsp;농생물과 학자 ,식물학자 ,그리고 원예종 학자이며 한국농업과학연구소의 소장이었다.<br>한국인 아버지와 일본인 어머니 사이에서 태어났고, 도쿄제국대학을 졸업했다.<br><br></div><div><br>우장춘이 이룬 가장 큰 학문적 업적은 1935년 "배추속(Brassica) 식물에 관한 게놈 분석"이라는 박사 학위 청구 논문을 통해 '종의 합성' 이론을 제시한 것이다. 배추와 양배추의 교잡을 통해 이미 존재하는 유채를 실험적으로 만들고, 그 과정을 유전학적으로 규명함으로써 종간 잡종과 종의 합성이 실제적으로 일어날 수 있음을 밝혔다. 이 이론으로 인해 결국 '종의 분화는 자연선택의 결과이다.' 였던 다윈의 진화론을 수정하는 엄청난 파장을 일으켰다.<br>또한, 한국 국토에 원예와 농업을 발전시켰고, 그 당시 열악했던 한국 농학 분야에 선구적인 일을 많이 했다.<br><br>또한 씨없는 수박을 만든사람이 우장춘 박사라고 알려진 정보는 잘못된 정보이다.<br>우장춘 박사는 '씨 없는 수박을 최초로 만든 사람'이 아니라, '한국에 씨 없는 수박을 최초로 들여와 알린 사람'이라고 표현하는게 알맞다.</div>]]></description>
