In these two chapters, Doctor Thorne learns that his niece's other uncle, Roger Scatcherd, has made him the executor of his estate. Inside of his will he has stipulated that if something should happen to his son, his only heir, then the bulk of his estate, which includes $200K, will go to his sister's first born child, which just so happens to be Doctor Thorne's niece Mary. Doctor Thorne spends the bulk of the remaining chapters going back and forth debating on whether he should tell Roger about this development.

The way Trollope continues to add dimension to the story through multiple plot lines always impresses me, but this one in particular I was surprised by. I knew that Mary would need to inherit in some way so that she could be with her obvious future man, Frank Gresham the younger, but I truly did not know how it was going to happen. I am curious to know if Roger Scatcherd, her unknown uncle, will come to be known to her or if he will die before she or Doctor Thorne can make him aware of the situation.

OBSERVATIONS- The uses a lot of alliteration and metaphors in chapter 5.
-In this chapter, we learn the speaker's name is Caden. We also learn that he is not mentally well that he thinks low of himself and he thinks he is always in danger.
SUMMARY- The main character Caden goes sailing with an old man and his crew who have been sailing the sea for many years. The crew thinks Caden is full of talent and will become a greater sailor but he doesn't think so. The crewmembers call him their compass.

Caden is at home with is family, his mom, dad and younger sister. Caden reveals his dad that he is being threaten. He tell his father that someone from school is trying to kill him. His dad tells him why he thinks that and he has no reason why. His dad tells him that it is all make believe and that his is not being threatened.

I think the speaker is mentally ill. also i think having thoughts like that is so creepy. I really hope the reader get better.

Caden's Mother is talking to his grandma on the phone. Caden believes that's not his mother on the phone. He wants to go hear the conversation but his father stops him. The father asks Caden why does he think this kid is threaten him and he says " I don't know. The kid doesn't even go to his class its just a kids passing in the school hallway. His father thinks he is just anxious about school. The next day Caden goes out to sail a boat with the old sailors.

Caden really thinks low of himself. The old sailors think he was a great talent and compliment him about it. He think he is not good enough which is a bit annoying but i am just as surprised as him on how the sailors called him talented.

He also talks about the past, when he and his friends liked to go shopping and on a shopping reminding him of the good old days. Caden starts to make illusions in his head scaring his little sister.

Caden has been warned by the old sailors not to go into unknown corners of the ship. Caden's curiosity gets the best of him and goes exploring the ship. Find an old lady and a parrot telling him not to go places he doesn't know. Caden says his job on the boat is being a stabilizer. When the sea is calm Caden goes and hangs out with Carlyle. Carlyle. is a person on the ship who is friendlier than anyone.

I think Caden has too much going on in his mind. I think Caden should clear his mind. The way he goes on saying everything on his mind affects everyone around him. I think he shows enough sign for him to need a therapist.

I think the author puts the facts of how Caden was happy back then and wants us to see a comparison of the way he acts now. I think by doing this it shows more in-depth of how Caden really is

I think Caden shouldn't go wonderingto places on a ship when he has been warned especially when he doesn't know everybody on the ship. Caden doesn't really have a job on the ship he is just there. But the sailors do enjoy his presence.

Caden's curiosity adds up to his schizophrenic personality. He is scared of doing this because his mind says it is dangerous but is very curious. I think that shows his mind is his biggest setback.

The Ship comes to a stop the crew members start parting drink alcoholic drinks. Caden is just watching and talking to the crew members partying. Caden goes back to talking about school and starts thinking that at school they are going to harm him. He father says that is nonsense and he is over reacting.

I think Caden feels his best and forgets his fears when he is out sailing. I think Caden just doesn't like school due to the fact he doesn't feel safe. His father should pay more attention to him.
