Polls at the beginning of class as students are entering is a great engagement tool. I usually play a Flocabulary and use one of their quiz questions for my poll.

Whiteboards are a great tool to show student understanding. They can be checked in the moment and displayed for illustrating how a problem can be solved using different strategies.

Presentations can be uploaded beforehand and tools in class allow you to underline, and write directly onto your screen. There is also an option that allows students to write on the screen for sharing.

Collaborate Sharing Files

When you use the Collaborate light bulb to share a file it will stay open as a tab at the top of class. I have found this to be helpful to share my daily slides and rotations so that kids can see them even when in BORs during small group. That way everyone has access to their group and directions. If you look in the top left-hand corner once you post your slides with the collaborate tool you can toggle on to record the slides. This way it shows up in your recordings!

I have been having issues with the closing slide of the lessons. I made a slide that I can use daily with the students. (This was suggested by my grade level team.) Now when class period is over, or possibly even when I am done with a small group, I pull up the presentation to get the students to think about what they have done in class. I hope I am doing this correctly. Tracy B

I have used White boards while trying to work out problems with my math students. Lately I have been using it as a focal message point. I have been setting up a message letting all students who come to class late what they should be doing while I am in small group. Now I don't have to stop my small group lesson to instruct students what they should be doing besides trying to watch You Tube.

I am working on it!! Had an issue where I uploaded a presentation (albeit on the fly) for a student that was having difficulty logging into Nearpod. Neither of us could figure out how to annotate on the presentation...but, I will try, try again!

I regularly link my webpages, nearpods, choice board etc. to launch to students daily. It is convenient, as I able to upload them once and use for the entire week.

Con: sometimes when shared through class certain features are not available or it is blocked. When I share the link in the chat it works fine. So not sure if this is a Class issue.

I typically use Nearpod during instruction, so I incorporate a presentation for the daily warmup. I love that students can annotate on the presentation. In addition, once you upload a file or document, it remains in Class.

I upload my google slides to Class. I'm loving the laser pointer and annotations. I like to use it for my Exit Tickets and then use a quick poll for the answer. Sometimes it doesn't want to load and takes a while. I'm learning to be patient.

1/28/25 This week I am trying out the polls. It seems pretty self explanatory. I like that you can see the student's answers because the letter they choose actually shows on their student card. The only two types are either multiple choice or yes/no. You have to polling questions typed into the collaboration board first to send out the poll.

Not my favorite tool in CLASS... Whenever I open it in the main room to work with a small group, it opens in all of the rooms, even though it's not something they should be working on. Today, I had a little cuss word writing on my board, and I couldn't trace who had done it. I'll stick to Nearpod or Canva or even Google Slides from now on!

I used the whiteboard tool to model examples during direct instruction. I noticed that the templates will save. Also, students can annotate and the whiteboard can be launched for the main or specific BORs.

Polls work wonderful for Exit Tickets. I pre-program a generic poll with ABCD as a choice. I show the Exit Ticket on the Board and then launch a poll.

Something I noticed on the mid-year diagnostic that was very interesting. I was using proctor view and securly. Through proctor view I could tell that the student was googling answers using another tab, but I could not see it using securly. Proctor view will show all the tabs open on the student's screen. Unless you are watching Securly every second you would not see them switch to another tab.
