Polio typically presents itself as flu-like symptoms in a majority of cases. In a small amount of cases, polio brings about meningitis and paralysis. Polio is spread person to person contact and is highly transmissible. Oral contact with feces and droplets from sneezes and coughs are common ways of how the disease is spread. There is a way to prevent transmission and infection and that is by vaccination.
