Now collect together about  4 or 5 items that you can measure the length of e.g. book, pen, cereal box,  lego brick. You will also need a ruler.

Take 1 item and using the ruler,  measure how many cm long it is. Write it down so you don't forget. Now measure the length of a second item and write that down. Add the two lengths together e.g. spoon 14cm + lego brick 3cm = 17cm.
Repeat this with different pairs of objects. Complete at least 4 calculations.
