Construction started in 1891 and had different points of construction that would ultimately all connect later on. The first completion date of the railway was in 1904 when the sections that ranged from Moscow to Vladivostok were complete.

The railway is a hotspot for transportation of both goods and people. It was primarily used for transportation of goods in the past, but now is more of a tourist attraction. The railway stretches from Moscow to Irkutsk making it 5772 miles long.
The Trans-Siberian Railway is located fully in Russian territory, but the railway spans over a lot of land from moscow to Vladivostok, and it runs through Manchuria. It was built under the supervision of Tsar Alexander III, and his son Tsarevich Nicholas also known later on as Tsar Nicholas II.

The plan for the railway is to in the future have it built so it stretches the whole way from Tokyo to London. So far Russia has contacted Japan with its plans to extend the railway. Japan is interested in having it done by 2020 in order to attract tourists to the Olympics. It is argued that the time frame, sadly, would be too small to do so.

Mollie: I had never heard of the railway before until I read about it in our book.
It was interesting to read about what the train is used for-tourist and business-and how it was built.
Missy: Before digging further into the topic, the Trans-Siberian railway was just something I had heard of, but I never really knew much about it. I found it very cool how this railway had such a big impact on the history of siberia. This railway was Interesting to learn about, because when you think about it, for how long it is and some of the complications it had, 23 years isn't an unreasonable time length for how big of an impact it had on history.
