Shopping malls are usually open from Monday to Saturday between 10 am - 10 pm and on Sunday till 9 pm. Small stores close earlier during the week and usually are not open on Sundays. The parliament is discussing a bill that prohibits shopping on Sunday. 
People don't bargain. The price shown on a tag is what you pay. Customers can pay cash or by credit card. Payments by check are rarely accepted. 
In Poland there is no sales tax, instead there is VAT that is currently 23%. Gross prices are shown on a price tag. If you are shopping in NY, the price with tax is shown at the cash register. 
According to regulations, sale in Polish walk-in stores is final but large retail companies offer 30 days to return goods to attract more customers. Exchange of goods might be acceptable by stores but doesn't have to be. 
Poland is famous for great pierogi, kielbasa, and vodka. Clothes and electronic devices are mostly imported.

The town where I live, Favara, is near Agrigento, a little city in the south of Italy.
There are a few shops in Favara, so people go shopping in big malls in Palermo or Catania.
In my own town there are small stores in a street called Via Aldo Moro and once a week, on Friday morning, there is an outdoor market in Via Piersanti Mattarella.
People do bargain very often in this market.
There aren’tb any special products sold in Favara.
A lot of stores are open from Monday to Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. 
NYC is full of shops and crazy people.
If you go to NYC you should have a lot of cash because you can’t pay with the card in every shop.
You must know that you have to tip in the restaurants and you can’t do bergain.
Favara and New York aren’t nothing alike the same!

If you go to NYC you should bring an umbrella with you.
If you don’t rent a car you should buy a 7days metro card to visit NYC.
If you go to NYC you shouldn’t pay too much for hotels because you are out all the time.
If you go to NYC you should have comfortable shoes because you will walk a lot in the city’s streets.

Crotone
Stores in Crotone are not that special but sometimes you can find some interesting products. Usually the store are open from 4 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. . Only a few opens in the morning, plus only 3 or 4 stores are open on Sundays. If you're looking for big malls with lots of variety e diverse stores, you won't find anything like that here, there's just one big mall at the edges of the city and the other ones are just small stores in centre of the city. On the sea side there are a lot of people who bargain, but most of the times they sell useless and poor quality products.
Most of the people pays in cash just a few uses credit cards as a payment method.
In Crotone is produced a special sauce called "Sardella" which is made out of hot chili peppers and tiny fishes, it can be found in the outskirts of the town in a zone called "Le Castella". Most of the stores allows exchange such as clothing stores when your dress or shoes doesn't fit you, but almost no one totally refund your purchase. The stores from Crotone does have a very narrow range of products, there aren't very popular brands either.  In New York instead there is almost everything you want to buy and is much easier to find what you are looking for.

In my city there aren’t as many shops as New York. You can find some little shops in the city centre, where their opening time it’s from 8 am to 12am and in the afternoon from 3 pm to 8 pm. Moreover there are two big malls in the outskirts, where you can go shopping all day long. They are always open. 
One day a week in the main square there’s also  a very cute outdoor market . 
In Ferrara you can find a lot of tipical dishes like Cappellacci ( a sort of ravioli filled with pumpkin), Tenerina cake, Pampepato, and Pasticcio ferrarese’s style.
In Italy people usually pay with cash or credit card and they don’t bargain. Furthermore we don’t pay sales tax on clothing , but there’s a tax called “IVA” that is included in the price. In the stores you can normally exchanges clothes if you bring back the receipt.

If I have to compare my city with New York, I have to say that in my opinion in Ferrara the food is better than the NY food.
New York is an huge cosmopolitan city and obviously there  are more people than Ferrara. For example if you walk around the city centre, you won’t meet  as different ethnic groups as New York. In think also that Ferrara is more ancient and there are more historical attractions. Indeed It was founded before the middle age. 

If you go to Times Square, you should eat from the food trucks situated in the centre of the square .

You can pay by credit card or by cash in each shop, it’s the same. If you pay by debit card, they will accept it. In my city you can find some special products, for example regional food that are delicious. There is a tax for each thing that you buy but it’s included in the prize. Stores allow just exchange with other products of the shop, refounds are impossible.
If you go to New York you have to walk a lot and you should wear confortable shoes.

There  are a lot of differences between these two cities, for example if you go to New York you will find public transportation working really well, if you go in Rome you will probably have to wait a lot to find one bus. Moreover, if you visit to New York you will be able to find a lot of different kinds of food from all over the world, if you visit Rome you will probably eat only Italian food. Cagliari
In Cagliari the stores are usually open everyday, except for Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 8:30/9 p.m., with a break for lunch. There are a lot of small stores in the city center, but there are also some malls in the suburban. Stores are usually indoors, however there are some stores outdoors which sell things like souvenirs. In these type of stores you are allowed to bargain, while in the others you can't do that. People often pay with cash, but credit and also debit card are really common to be used. There are a lot of typical Sardinian products sold in Cagliari like different types of sweets or a special salt cake made with meat Ora fish and vegetables, called panada. In the stores of my city refunds aren't always possible, but exchanges are allowed respecting an established period of time.

Well, when I go abroad I don't usually go shopping but for the little I saw, I can say that from my point of view there aren't a lot differences. Shops opens at 9 am and closes at 9 pm, just as in Italy. In my town we have all the tipes of shops and people use both credit cards or cahs for the payments. Bargain perhaps is the only difference with in Italy but however it's only done in the outdoor markets. A good thing, which we probably have only in Italy is that clothes prices already come with the sales tax in them while something that we don't have and really affects the shopping is that you can't have refunds.
To my reader, If you are going to New York and you want to eat street food, you'll better ceck different stands and find the cheaper one. 
And if you are worried about what you shouldn't do to bother Americans, don't worry, cause how you behave in Italy is fine for New York.

In Rome stores are opened  from 8 Am to 8 Pm everyday except on Sunday and there's any kind of stores including small stores and malls.
People don't bargain and they pay with credit cards or with cash.The stores sell traditional products such as pizza and pasta and the price you see on price tags already includes taxes.Also in every store is allowed to exchange but not to refund.
In New York stores are bigger than the ones in Rome and there you can find everything you need and stores are opened from 8 am to 8 pm. But, if you are from a little city, just like me, it’s a little bit different. In Casal di Principe, the city where I live, there aren’t big malls or stores, but only a few small shops managed by local families. The opening time is the same everywhere, i think. They usually open at 9-10 a.m. and they close at 10 p.m.
In my city there aren’t many indoor stores, but every week on a specific day, there are a lot of outdoor stores, and they sell handmade products too! We never bargain in malls, but we do it sometimes if we are in a little store and we know the person who works there. We usually pay with cash in little stores, and with debit cards in bigger ones. The sales tax are included in the price that we see on the tag, and it’s about 22% of the price. In big stores, exchanges are usually allowed, but almost never in small ones. Refunds is impossible.

New York and Casal di Principe are very different cities. Of course, for their population. New York has more than 8 million of inhabitants; Casal di Principe instead has only 20.000 inhabitants. If you are in New York, you will see huge skyscrapers everywhere; in Casale there aren’t skyscrapers, but only houses. If you are hungry and you are in New York, you will probably see some crazy prices in restaurants located in the centre of city, so, if you want to not pay too much, you should not go in the centre. In Casal di Principe prices are the same everywhere, and their are a lot lower. Speaking about food, if you are in Casal di Principe, you should go to “Emilio” and eat his famous dessert called “Roccobabbà”, you won’t regret it!

My hometown is very small (even if it's Basilicata's county seat), so there aren't a lot of stores, it's commercially poor. Comparing Potenza to New York means to compare silver to gold. 
Stores usually open at 9 a.m. from Monday to Saturday because Sunday is only relax; people finish working at 8 p.m.  and this is a limitation because if you need something and it's 10 p.m., you have to wait for the next morning; for this reason I really hate my hometown because closing time depends on cities, for example in Rome they finish working at 11 p.m. when children go to bed. 
Moreover there's only one mall, known as Polo Acquisti, where you can find a supermarket and an optical but  it's also true that there are some outdoor markets which sell local products that are too expensive, so doing bargain is very difficult indeed even if "peperoni cruschi" are delicious you can't pay them 10€. This type of pepper isn't the only special product: there's also parmigiana. On the contrary paying is easier, you can use debit card or cash but you also pay a sales tax on clothing (it's around 20%). If you come back home and you don't like your t-shirt, you can refund it and your wallet can be full again. 
Potenza and New York aren't similar at all (the first is small and depopulate, the second never sleeps) indeed if you're from a quiet country (just like me) and you go to NY, you should be alert and you shouldn't carry enough cash because someone could rub your bag. 
Moreover if you have to meet your boss, you should look up what's going on in the city because he could become angry if you're late.

Stores in my city are divided in two types: there are small shops and malls. One the one hand, little stores are located near the houses and they are opened from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Saturday; on the other hand, there is a mall in the suburb and it stays opened 24/7. People can't burgain because there are fixed prices and they usually pay in cash or credit card. About local products, in my city shops sell just typical food. Respect to clothing, there's not a special sale tax and stores usually allow exchanges.

If you want to walk around New York, you should bring with you a camera because that city is full of details to remember.

Advices for New York City
If once you decide to go to New York City you should at first check the weather because you never know if is going to rain or is going to be sunny. Another important advice is to wear comfortable shoes because you are going to walk a lot. In Italy we have 22% of tax, called IVA that’s already included in the price, but also you can exchange some products If you don’t like that or If you took a wrong size for clothing. In New York is totally different, there’re any type of shops everywhere and you can find everything. If you’re come to visit NY you should wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and also check the weather before to go out. I live in a small city in the center of Italy. There, also the shops are very small, only in the city center there are shopping centers and malls. You can also find some places to eat well near the stores. In the shops people can pay with banknotes or credit cards. Special products of my city are “arrosticini”, skewers of sheep meat cooked on the grill and eaten mostly during the holidays. In Italy there is “IVA”, a tax already included in the price of the product. You can exchanges the product in the shop with the use of receipt. In NY you can find shops bigger than shops in Lanciano. If you go in NY you will wear confortable shoes and you will buy metro card because public transport work better than Italy. In NY you can find all you want.
