However, as time passed and mankind advanced into the future, synthetic alternatives to create these precious jewels have been put into place. However, each method of attaining these jewels have its benefits and drawbacks. For instance, doing it the old-fashioned way — mining it from deep underground — requieres a herculean amount of both resources and tools to extract and cut a raw diamond into shape. This can often pollute the diamond mine’s natural ambience, and as a result, pose a serious geological crisis. However, these diamonds are considered a “real” or an authentic diamond, and is often more valuable to many costumers and jeweler businesses worldwide. On the other side of the spectrum, synthetic diamonds are considered “fake” and not as valuable as its natural counterpart. However, synthetic diamonds are more cost effective as they are able to be mass produced in a controlled lab, leading us to the fact that these diamonds are simply created by firing the atoms found in a natural diamond into a diamond compound, with no risk of pollution. Synthetic materials, such as plastic or kevlar and even things as mundane as a pencil has greatly improved our civilization, such as plastic being a flexible all-propose material that can fix things from a toddler’s toy to the International Space Station, or kevlar, for example, keeping hostile projectiles away from our troops in war, allowing fathers returning to their children, husbands to their wives, and sons to their parents. And even an everyday, household, and overlooked object like a pencil revolutionized the way humans communicate to each other. However, the by-products and the side effects and the waste that the production of these products produce damages both our and other animal’s ecosystem. Toxic fumes from the burning and producing gasoline has killed many of our avian species, from the antagonizing seagull to the majestic bald eagle, has all suffered from this smoke that has polluted their lungs and their homes. And that’s just one bad thing pertaining to one environment. What about the fish in the sea? The insects on the ground? Or what about what we will leave behind for our children? A scarred, destroyed, and dastardly monstrosity of a planet? polluted beyond recognition by the very technology intended to improve our life on it?  We need to weigh our choices and their consequences as human beings and do what is right.
