Students are becoming more inspired to take ownership of their own learning. Through this learning they become critical thinkers, collaborators, creators as well as problem solvers. 21st Century learning allows students to work with resources other than those within the classroom (Intel, n.d).

Evidence based teaching strategies gives the students a clear understanding of what is expected from the lesson. Asking questions throughout the lesson and giving feedback allows the teacher to see who is needing assistance and who can further develop their knowledge. Guide students with various techniques to encourage them to learn. Students are able to work individual to find information that is then collaborated within a group of students to further each other's as well as the classes knowledge on a topic that they are interested in. This enables students to stay on task with the engagement of the topic of interest (Fogarty,1991). 
NSW Quality Teaching suggests (Killen, 2009) that students gain more of a deep understanding of a unit of work if it is integrated within subjects that they have pieces of information from to be able to further build on these.
