My LMX 7 score was a 26, which I think would be an accurate reflection of the leader-member exchange that I based it upon. Without providing details about who I chose, the relationship has been at times "out-group" style. I don't believe it was based upon the ideas of LMX. Sometimes out-groups are formed from other situations, such as proximity, bias, preferences, etc. The score could have been much lower, however there has been effort on an individual's part to rectify the "in-group" "out-group" mentalities, which falls into the leadership making process of the LMX theory.

My LMX 7 score was a 32. I do agree with the results because I have a great working relationship with my Vice-President. I feel that he h complete trust in me as an employee and I feel a strong connection as part of the in-group. I also have full confidence in his abilities and I would defend his ideas if he was not present to do so.

My LMX 7 score was a 30. I completely agree with the results because the relationship that I have with my leader is very good and effective. I find my relationship with my leader to be strong. I can go to my leader for anything and we have a very friend-like relationship. We bounce ideas off of each other all the time and that makes both of us better. While I do not agree with him on every decision, I do find myself having very similar views and opinions on many things. I would definitely say that I am in the "in-group" and that there is a different method of treatment towards the "in-group." We are not watched as closely because he trusts us to get the work done and he knows that we will do our work correctly.

Your score does indicate a high quality Partnership Phase for you and your vice-president. I wanted to choose an individual that unknowingly (or so one hopes) engages in in-group/out-group behaviors that doesn't really strive for partnership phases with all group members.
You and your vice-president have achieved an effective relationship based upon mutual trust, support and your strong work ethic.

My LMX 7 score was a 27 which isn't the highest but it is high. I agree with this score for the most part. Would I like it to be higher, of course. When I first started at my college, I felt like I was in the "out group" and wirked my way in the "in group". I would like to think I could be higher in the "in group" eventually but for now, I am okay with being partly in both groups. I feel like my supervisor can trust me to get my work completed and trust me to do what is right. I would also defend her ideas if she weren't there to do so.

Chris, I thought your score would be high as well because you are a well liked and in the "in group". People do trust you and your work and rely on you for support. We also can't get through our day with out you and your attitude because you make coming to work fun!!

LaCosta,
It actually sounds like you are working your way into the in-group. You definitely display some qualities of being in the in-group and your score is fairly high so that indicates you are close to it. The more subordinates that are in the in-group the better because that means that the individuals are comfortable with their situation and they are more likely to produce high-quality work.
