What is the American dream, is it having a house with a white picket fence and a moderately sized family, becoming rich, having a better life for your children, or maybe it’s accomplishing all of your goals? Think about it, what has the American become? For me, it’s accomplishing my goals such as finishing high school, going to a trade school, becoming an electrician, starting a family, retiring, and then travel to new and interesting places. But let's stop there and get back to the topic at hand. What is the American dream, and how can you achieve it?

 You know what….. I don’t care. When it comes down to it I don’t care what the American dream is, the American dream is all based on opinion. Everyone sees the American dream differently, for you, it might be one thing, and for others, it might be something completely different. There are many people who don’t care about the dream and same for the adverts. There are also a lot of people who believe the American dream is dead and is not worth fighting for. Then there are the people who believe that it's alive and well and that they have conquered it.

 But to be completely honest I don’t think that the American dream is a bad thing, a matter of fact I think it’s actually a good thing. It gives people something to strive for, giving them a reason to keep going and becoming a better person. The American dream has caused so much to happen in the U.S. to make it better.the American dream to me is not something that is one thing but is many things that make people strive to be better than they were yesterday. So the American dream can never truly be dead just miscued and thought to be about one thing.

There are so many people who think that the American dream is about success but it’s not it’s about being happy and becoming a better person. People may think that it's about having a nice house, with a nice family, and nice things but really it’s about being happy and doing what makes you happy. Now if having these things makes you happy then go out and work for them till you get them. Never give up on your dreams because your dreams are part of the American dream. The American dream is about making dreams a reality, for this is the land of opportunity and you can do anything as long as you work for it.

Altogether the American dream is less about having things and more about being happy and achieving your dreams. The American dream is so misunderstood that it has become a dream that is not achievable by some people. Throws people feel as if the American dream is dead because they do not understand what the American dream is really about. The American dream needs to be understood to be believed in, but to understand what the American dream is about you need to forget what you know about the American dream. Then you need to realize that the American dream is about your own personal dreams not everyone else's, then you will truly know what the American dream is about.
