Many people believe that health care and medical care are the same thing. However, health care is what you do to for yourself to become a healthier you. Medical care is what doctors do for you when you go to the hospital. Beasley states that most Americans can afford health care but they just choose not to buy it because they can go to the emergency room for free. The downfall of having Universal Health Care is that people have to wait a long time before they can even see the doctor, due to the lack of equipment and doctors.
CM

A free market allows for prices to be kept in check by their competition. If universal health care were implemented then the government would gain a monopoly over the area, and thus would be able to jack up prices to whatever they see fit. This leads to unhappy customers because as a result of this they will lose their ability to choose between different insurers or coverage options. Another argument in this article is that the healthy shouldn't be tasked with having to pay for the sick, especially those who live unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking and drinking.
B.S.

Pitts wrote an article that discussed the costs and disadvantages other countries have with universal health care and Americans knowledge of the situation. The U.K. and Canadian healthcare systems focus more on saving money than taking care of their patients. Canadians have trouble accessing primary care doctors for a routine procedure or check-up because there is such a large waiting list. The wait time for procedures in the European area is long also it takes 72 days for a bypass surgery and in New York the average is 17 days. America needs a health care reform but universal health care is not the answer we need to find a workable, responsible, and puts patients first health system.

There are problems trying to find viable medications and it is taking pharmacists long periods of time to get the right doses of medicine. When doctors try to help obese people to slim down and old people to get healthy, it apparently means those people are taking everyone else's money.
What???
R.R.

Pitts wrote his article in 2008 to bring an enhancement to the peoples awareness of the costs and disadvantages other countries who have universal health care. In his article he states that a typical Canadian in 2007 would have to wait an average of 18.3 weeks to have a surgery or other therapeutic treatments, while other Canadians have difficulty accessing a primary care doctor for a routine procedure or check-up. Pitt also states that for a U.K patient who was diagnosed early with breast cancer they had a 78% survival rate, compared to the 98% of the United States. Another point brought up by Pitt would be the fact that many feel universal health care would be "free", not taking into consideration that it would come out of the tax payers pockets.
GV
