Muchos hispanos lo trajeron cuando emigraron a los Estados Unidos. Muchos estadounidenses están fascinados por el Día de los Muertos y participan en su celebración. Ahora, se extiende desde México y Sudamérica hasta el norte de los Estados Unidos. Y gente todavía lo celebra todos los años.

This means that many spirits can and will come back to the land of the living.  Instead of being afraid of these ghosts and apparitions, the people of Mexico and other Latin-American countries take a different view of them. To them, this is a chance to re-connect with their deceased ancestors. They make sure these spirits are happy by giving them offerings.  This helps keep them happy and makes sure they visit again so that people can once more know their parents, grandparents, and even their great grandparents. These people also dress up in colorful costumes to mimic the dead. This includes painting their faces like skulls, wearing formal, black clothing, and even setting up altars to pray and leave offerings. This also helps generations later learn about how their ancestors were. People often gather around to tell stories about the deceased.
