Writing is a difficult process that requires a skillset based off vocabulary, reading comprehension, understanding of how a text structure works, and critical thinking skills. Writing provides us with a tool to better understand our thoughts and comprehension of the text or study. Without writing in the classroom it can be difficult to gage a students understanding of the given content. We often spend our academic careers and our adulthoods perfecting writing whether we realize it or not. It starts with simple drawings of pictures as children. Basic Writing Skills- Basic writing skills consist of the basic mechanics of writing: Punctuation, comma splices and their use, capitalization, how a sentence is structured, typing using a keyboard, and sentence fragments (run-ons, etc.)

Text Generation- Text generation is the ability to generate text into language based off of internal thoughts. Expression, clarity (making a clear point), detail, and vocabulary.

Writing Process- The process of writing consist of editing ones work, planning, revising, and even a peer review.

Writing Knowledge- This includes having an understanding of the text or genre one is writing about. The better the understanding the easier the process will be. Understanding the topic of what we're writing about is useful in writing because we're better prepared to write about such topics when we have knowledge of the terminology and the discipline or topic at hand.

Writing in music comes across in many different forms: compositions, transcriptions, poems, lyrics, and even performance writing. The most common forms of text in music would be compositions and transcriptions. Musicians are often asked to write down what they hear and transcribe it on paper. This is a process, like normal writing, that takes practice and improves overtime. Again, having a brief understanding of the piece or a familiarity makes the writing process easier. The pleasant fact about writing music is that it's not a limiting field at all. Ludwig Beethoven was a successful composer during his time and was fully hard of hearing when he wrote his final few pieces. While Beethoven went deaf over the course of his life, he still understood the rules to writing music and often broke them too. There are many different ways to tackle music when dealing with impairments but they should not be a limiting factor. People with hearing impairments can still write music, lyrics, poems, and screenplays of a musical performance.
