         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sometimes when I was spying, I would take the risk of stealing confederate information in order to bring it to my alliance in the Union. For example, once I found an opened letter about the confederate plans for the near future. I replaced it with a different envelope, and hid the letter in my hoop skirt. It worked great to cover it up, and no one suspected a thing.</div>]]></description>

Women wanted to help their side win the war without fighting and felt that this was their option. Spies like Katherine passed on secret information about one side, to the other.
