gender -- in education, women don't get the chances men get. They are not seen as smart as men. Women also don't get the opportunities that men get in the work place and this can work with so may different categories.

sexuality-- transgender people, gay people, and many people apart of the LGBT are told that they are less than and more. A very popular thing that is said among homophobic people is "you can be gay just don't be gay outloud" people who are not cisgender heterosexual are often told to not be loud with what they feel.

The best way to challenge marginalization is using your voice. But also changing the way that you look at things. One thing I saw was "be willing to accept correction" when someone explains what they go through or if you misspeak, be okay with someone voicing that you said something wrong

they connect since they are both mistreatment of a group. However, with exploitation, there is benefit to the people who are mistreating and purposefully cheating the group out of what they work for, etc. With marginalization, it does not seem to look like there is a benefit to any group and just is a cause of mistreatment

There are two groups in society. They "dominant" group and the "non dominant" group. For dominant we see, men, white people, christians, etc. For non dominant it is everyone else, so women, POC, non christian religions etc. For cultural imperialism I feel it works for all examples here. The dominant group in our socially constructed world have almost forced people to see the world through their eyes. Oppression has been around for so long we don't even realize who is being oppressed. We don't realize that all us are oppressed and are acting in ways to reinforce the "dominant" groups ideas.

religion-- is the first one to come to my head. Since christianity is so widely known, now everyone celebrates Christmas and Easter

gender--women dress and act a certain way for the "dominant" group, men, to look at them or to just be appealing through the male eye. I've heard lesbians say they like male validation and it all is intertwined with how our society is set up

double consciousness is having an intersectionality between two groups that might not have the same core beliefs or ideas. With my own life experience, I would say how I am bisexual in a hispanic household. I know my immediate family would be proud for me and who I am, but the farther out there would. be judgment and more. I don't know exactly what they would say, but I have never showed them a relationship and don't know if I want to know. I am very close with my family and wouldn't like to be a topic of conversation

To get rid of double consciousness, we have to be able to take criticism and accept that to undo a system we have to understand how we play a part in it. We need to hear other people and to undo all the things that have been done, we have to accept that we have a role in this as well

As a hispanic woman in the working class, all of these are personal to me. I am lucky to have a grandfather who built his business up and am able to learn business. I don't work there all the time, but when I do I can work under people that don't hurt me with money and will pay me what I am owed.

gender-- though men and women experience SA, women experience it on a much higher level and every women has experienced on some level a threat or more.

race-- the example used in the text explains how a black man lives knowing he could likely be subject of attack just for the race that he is.

powerlessness is very similar to marginilization and exploitation. First with marginalization. Powerlessness is the oppressed not being able to be taken seriously among dominant groups. It's the lack of control they have over themselves. With marginalization it is very similar because the non dominant group is seen as less important. The three faces of oppression all connect because it is the dominant group holding power over all oppressors. Exploitation has clear advantages such as money and control , but the only advantage the dominant group has in marginiliation and powerlessness is the power they posess and what they can do to keep that power.

class-- class works with almost every face of oppression, but because it is so relevant through capitalism vs the working class. With powerlessness, the lower rank you are the more likely you are not taken seriously. People who don't have enough money to look good for job interviews might beg discounted, when they need the money with the job they are applying for. Loans are only given to people who have money and etc

ability-- someone who needs accommodations for how they can work are automatically not taken seriously by the people that have to either pay for their accomadtions

Code-switching is an important thing to know how to do and use it when it is needed. For example, certain mannerism and the way people speak are deemed to be "unprofessional" and can be taken not seriously when spoken this way, so sometimes we need to fall into capitalistic tendencies so we can be taken seriously in the work place. Though we have our free will and it can be empowering to do and speak how you would feel, a lot of people do not see it that way and it may hurt you more than it can help you.
