This involves light, sheer garments, sometimes knitted or with cut outs and sometimes asymmetrical. Usually it features a softer colour palette with irregular textures. I believe this trend has been gradually been developed from the rise in popularity of crochet. I think this began in Lockdown with many people looking for hobbies to fill their time, crocheting became popular, especially amongst teenagers, with many posting their creations on Instagram or Tik Tok. From there I feel that its popularity hasn't decreased and this look of a more light and delicate garment originated from the trend of crocheting your own clothes. However, I believe the Environmental factor of PESTLE also played a part (in the origins of the trend at least). Creating your own clothes promotes slow fashion, you're more invested in the garment and therefore are more likely to mend it if it needs repair, rather than throwing it away. You also have more control over what yarn you use (rather than acrylic, you could use wool).
