Socializing
In my opinion, it is difficult to make friends outside your country because there are many different cultures that influence in the relationship with people. Also, people sometimes are like narrow-minded and that doesn´t help too much because they expect to find some characteristics typical of a stereotype in the person. So that makes the relationship weird and not very honest (not all the people have the same idea to make friends). So, I believe that we have to be more open-minded and tolerant with other people and their situation.

Homesick
I think that this is the hardest shock for everyone that goes to new places. First of all, you have to start learning and get accustomed to living totally alone just with yourself, made good decision on your own and become more responsible. The thing that makes this situation more difficult is that you always miss your parents or the people that are closer to you and all the things that are always with you day by day in your hometown. But this helps you to become stronger and to know new people.

Food and meal times
Regarding to the food, the meal times and the types of dishes are very different. For me, it would be shocking having breakfast in the USA because they have very heavy and complete meals; although lunches and dinners are lighter because they have more snacks during the day, this helps them not to eat so much later. That’s totally different from other places I think, like here in Argentina. Because we do not eat too much for breakfast (sometimes nothing), but we eat complete and heavy meals for lunch and dinner. The most difficult part is the meal time because in my country we have dinner very late at night, for example at ten o´clock. While in other countries people have dinner earlier in the evening.

Weekend activities
There is a big difference among the different customs that we have during the weekend. In my opinion, It depends on the religion, the habits and the activities that we do. For example, here in Argentina, most of the Sundays we eat with our family “asado” with “empanadas” and in some cases pasta. So, if an Argentinian goes to the USA for a long time, the necessity of eating meat and being with our family makes them miss their country a lot. Another activity during all the weekends, is that the young people are accustomed to going dancing or being with their friends somewhere drinking alcohol. While in the USA this activity is difficult to do because they have a different legal age to drink alcohol.

La Idioma y La Cultura

Inmigrar a un nuevo país cuando no hablas el idioma es difícil. Obviamente, las cosas importantes como los viajes, la escuela y encontrar trabajo son mucho más difíciles. Pero también es mucho más difícil asimilarse en una cultura que habla un idioma diferente. 
Por ejemplo, es más difícil disfrutar de música, películas y televisión en inglés si no hablas el idioma. 
Esto hace que sea difícil asimilarse a la cultura porque a veces los inmigrantes se quedan fuera de las conversaciones sobre cultura con las que no pueden relacionarse.

Consejos para Inmigrantes

1. Encuentra amigos que tengan experiencias de inmigración similares. Estos amigos podrán relacionarse con sus luchas.
2. Habla con tu familia a menudo. Te extrañan y tú los extrañas. Es fácil olvidarse de hablar con su familia cuando está ocupado, ¡pero lo ayudará a sentir menos nostalgia!
3. Si hablas otro idioma, use su habilidad especial para encontrar un trabajo. ¡Ser bilingüe es un regalo! Muchos estadounidenses solo pueden hablar inglés, por lo que podrías estar bien calificado para muchos trabajos.

Mi Experiencia en Londres

Viví en Londres durante tres meses en el otoño de 2017. No fue un viaje largo, pero aún sentía nostalgia. Nunca había salido de casa por tanto tiempo, y aunque llamaba a mi familia a menudo, los extrañaba mucho. Fue increíble viajar sin mis padres. Tenía la libertad de ir a donde quisiera cuando quisiera. Viajé a seis países en tres meses, que es más países de los que había visitado en toda mi vida. El calcetín cultural que aprendí no era tan malo porque se habla inglés en Londres.
La gente era más educada de lo que esperaba, y la ciudad estaba mucho más limpia que Nueva York.

La Ciudad de Inmigrantes

Nueva York es la ciudad de inmigrantes. Todos los van a Nueva York para empezar una vida nueva en los Estados Unidos. Entonces, la ciudad tiene muchos lugares que han sido influenciados de la cultura de los inmigrantes. Hay restaurantes en la ciudad que sirven comida de Italia, Francia, India, España, de todo el mundo. Hay festivals culturales y lugares con conciertos y música de todos los países. Hay museos y arte de muchos culturas también. Por esto, todos los inmigrantes pueden ser neoyorquinos, porque los neoyorquinos son inmigrantes.

Hay lugares “emblemáticos de NYC” también, como Estatua de la Libertad, El Puente de Brooklyn y Times Square. Estos lugares son más popular que todos otros a los tourísticos. Pienso que en combinación, los ofrecen un imagen de Nueva York como lo en las peliculas. Pero, para un inmigrante argentino quien quiere vivier en Nueva York, yo le recomiendo que visite el pueblo oriental y el pueblo del oeste. Estos lugares tienen cultura, música y comida rica, y ofrecen la experiencia real de la ciudad. Si le gusta cultura, va a gustar estos pueblos. De mi conversación, creo que los argentinos son personas que les gusta cultura, comida, música y arte, como neoyoquinos. Sugiero que visite los museos también, por ejemplo, el museo de arte metropolitan y el museo de Brooklyn.

Hay algos cosas que nunca debe hacer. Camina rápido en las calles – la gente de Nueva York le molestan personas quien caminan sin prisa. La vida es rapida aquí. También, no uses chanclas – la gente de Nueva York se visten más formal que personas en otras cuidades y estados.

La Incomprensión Cultural

La incomprensión cultural puede ser una problema tambíen. No creo que es posible evitar choques culturales, pero a mí no me gusta la palabra “choque.” Culturas son diferentes y es normal experimentar algo que es muy diferente que lo que acostumbrado. Siempre trata ser calma y todo va a pasar bien. Puede usar tecnología para ayudarle, por ejemplo, un app de traducción, si es necesario.
