Born in Virginia March 16,1751.In 1776 he became a delegate to the revolutionary Virginia Convention.He was close friends with Thomas Jefferson.He was raised on a plantation.His family moved to the plantation because of the attacks on the French and Indian War.

James was first being home schooled but later entered a preparatory school and then went to a college named Princeton.Where he studied government, greek and latin. He was exposed to christian religion.He was elected in governs council in 1777.

After Presidency

Madison left the white House and retired to his Virginia plantation.He spent the remaining years supervising his large plantation holdings and salves. He remained active in various civic causes, and in 1826 he became rector of the University of Virginia, which was founded by his friend Thomas Jefferson.

Madison served on its Board Of Visitors and succeeded Jefferson as rector, or head of university in 1826.Three years later Madison served as a delegate at the Virginia Constitutional Convention.Madison died June 28 1836.
