One day, a grand ship from China docked along the Musi River. Aboard the ship was Tan Bun Ann, a prince and a merchant seeking fortune in new lands. His reputation as a skilled trader had spread far and wide. Upon arriving at the palace, he respectfully approached the king.

"Your Majesty, I have come to trade in your prosperous land. With your blessing, I wish to stay for a time and conduct my business," Tan Bun Ann said, bowing before the ruler.

The king, always seeking opportunities to enrich his kingdom, considered the proposal. "Very well," he agreed. "You may stay, but half of your profit must be given to the kingdom."

Tan Bun Ann humbly accepted the condition, and thus, he began his trade in South Sumatra. His business flourished, and he became a frequent visitor to the palace. There, he met Princess Siti Fatimah, and from the moment he laid eyes on her, he was captivated. Her beauty was matched only by her kindness, and he longed to know more about her.

Determined, Tan Bun Ann discreetly inquired about her. He learned that she remained unmarried, for her father sought a wealthy son-in-law. This knowledge fueled his ambition. He worked even harder, hoping to prove himself worthy.

In time, Siti Fatimah took notice of Tan Bun Ann's determination and gentle heart. They began to meet in secret, sharing stories of their cultures and dreams for the future. As the days passed, their love blossomed, growing stronger with each stolen moment together.

People believe Queen Panhtwar had a special connection with the god Vishnu. She protected her city with a magical drum that could cause floods and stop enemy armies. Because of this, Beikthano was safe for many years. Later, King Duttabaung from Sri Ksetra used tricks to defeat her city and made her his queen.

One day, she presented King Duttabaung with a piece of cloth that she had cursed with her powerful magic. After the king received the cloth, misfortune followed him and his kingdom. It is believed that this curse caused suffering and decline, showing that Panhtwar’s power and anger did not fade even after her defeat.

After her death, people believed that Queen Panhtwar became a powerful spirit who continued to protect the forests and lands around Beikthano. She is remembered not only as a queen but also as a symbol of strength, resistance, and deep love for her country. Her story is still told today in Myanmar folklore, theatre, and cultural traditions. She is probably the first queen of our country. I chose to talk about her because I was inspired by her strength and bravery.

Rangda is described as a frightening witch with long hair, sharp claws, and a terrifying laugh. She spreads fear and sickness among the people, causing chaos in the village. Because of her dark powers, the villagers pray for protection and call upon Barong to save them from Rangda’s evil influence.

Barong appears as a lion-like creature with a colorful costume and a kind spirit. He leads the villagers with courage and strength. When Barong confronts Rangda, a great battle begins. Rangda uses her magic to weaken Barong’s followers, but Barong uses his sacred power to protect them from harm.

In the end, neither Barong nor Rangda truly wins the battle. The story teaches that good and evil will always exist side by side in the world. The balance between them must be maintained, and people should always choose kindness, courage, and harmony in their lives.

Long ago in Karawang, there lived a beautiful woman who was known as a ronggeng, a traditional dancer. She was admired for her elegant movements and her ability to entertain people. Wherever she danced, many villagers came to watch and enjoy her performance.

However, her popularity caused jealousy. Some people began to speak badly about her and accused her of bringing bad influence to the village. Although she never harmed anyone, the rumors continued to spread.

One day, while she was passing through a quiet area near the hills, a group of villagers confronted her. They blamed her for problems in the village and refused to listen to her explanation. The ronggeng felt deeply hurt and afraid.

In her despair, she prayed to God for protection. She asked to be saved from human cruelty and injustice. Suddenly, a strong wind blew, and the ground shook. Slowly, her body turned into stone.

The villagers were shocked. The dancer was gone, and in her place stood a stone shaped like a woman. This stone later became known as Batu Ronggeng, or the Dancer’s Stone.

One day, a handsome young man named Rajo Mudo came to ask for the princess’s hand in marriage. But he had to prove his courage by facing difficult trials. The king gave him three tests. First, he had to defeat a tiger that was threatening the village. Second, he had to find a missing royal gemstone. And third, he had to show true loyalty to Putri Pinang Masak.

With determination and bravery, Rajo Mudo passed every challenge. He fought the tiger with skill, searched for the royal gem with persistence, and showed his true love for the princess through unshakable loyalty. In the end, the king accepted his proposal, and Putri Pinang Masak lived happily with Rajo Mudo.

After their marriage, Putri Pinang Masak was not only a loyal wife but also a wise leader. She helped her husband rule the kingdom with fairness and compassion. The people loved them and lived in peace.

They were blessed with a child who later grew up to become a great leader. Their love and struggle became an inspiration for many generations in Jambi. To this day, the story of Putri Pinang Masak is remembered as a symbol of perseverance and patience in facing life’s trials.

Arya Tebing, Serunting's brother-in-law, was jealous of Serunting's powers. He persuaded his sister, who was Serunting's wife, to reveal her husband's weakness. After learning this, Arya Tebing challenged Serunting to a fight and managed to wound Serunting in his weak spot.

Serunting was seriously injured and went into exile on Mount Siguntang. During his exile, he prayed and eventually gained magical powers whereby whatever he said would come true.

Serunting was then nicknamed Si Pahit Lidah (The Bitter Tongue) because of his powers. However, his supernatural powers made him arrogant. His powers were heard by Si Empat Mata (The Four Eyes), a powerful man from India.

They fought for days without result. An elder of the village then suggested that they eat aren fruit. The arrogant Si Pahit Lidah ate the fruit and died. Si Empat Mata, feeling strange, tried eating the same fruit and also died. Both of them ultimately died because of their arrogance and were buried in Lake Ranau.

The Prime Minister came to see Sinta Dewi and delivered Kidang Garungan's message. Sinta Dewi was interested in Prince Kidang Garungan's offer. However, she was confused because she could not find any information about the prince. "This prince is very mysterious. The only information that I have is that he is very rich."

Shortly after the proposal was accepted, Prince Kidang rushed to see Sinta Dewi. He brought a large entourage. All his carriages looked luxurious. However, when Prince Kidang revealed himself, it turned out that Prince Kidang had an unusual face. You could say he looked like a deer. He even had antlers on his head. This surprised Sinta Dewi. She was also confused because she had already accepted the proposal.

Before Sinta Dewi became Prince Kidang's wife, she had a request: "During the dry season, this village needs a lot of fresh water. So I ask you to dig a well before dawn." At that moment, Prince Kidang immediately carried out Sinta Dewi's request. He eagerly dug the ground to find water. This amazed Sinta Dewi. She never imagined Prince Kidang was so powerful.

Sinta Dewi was worried and did not want Prince Kidang to succeed in digging the well. To cancel the wedding, Sinta Dewi tried to cheat. "Guards, cover the well immediately." The well that Prince Kidang had dug was covered with soil by Sinta Dewi's guards. This, of course, made Prince Kidang very angry. Suddenly, the ground where Prince Kidang had been digging shook violently. It turned out that the prince could get out of the ground. As the prince emerged, hot water also gushed out from the ground. The hot water continued to flow until it eventually formed a crater with extremely hot water. This crater is now known as Sikidang Crater. It is located in the Dieng Plateau, Central Java.

However, he could not find anything. He becomes thinner, and he thought he would die soon. Suddenly, a little boy saw the crocodile lying down weakly far from the sea.

The boy took care of the crocodile, although greatly afraid, the boy decided to try and save the crocodile and eventually managed to get it back to the lake where it quickly recovered. The crocodile wanted to say thank you, but he had nothing to give. But he offers him to ride on his back to take him anywhere as it swam across the seas. The boy happily agreed. They become good friends from that day, the crocodile also promised that no one can harm him. Years to years, the little boy become a grown man same as the crocodile. The man's dream wanted to see the sun from the east, so he called the crocodile to travel together with him.

As days passed, they were on the amazing journey. The crocodile is old now, he cannot move his body fast anymore. his body is weak no as it was. The time came for it to die, he told the grown man that he will transform himself to become an island for the boy to lives.

Safe place for his children and generation.

The crocodile passed away: the body slowly transformed into a beautiful island. That is how Timor island formed.

In this village lived a kind-hearted young woman named Nyi Raras. She was admired not only for her beauty, but also for her generosity and wisdom. Every morning, she helped the villagers fetch water from the lake and taught children to respect nature. To her, Situ Cibeureum was not just a lake it was the

soul of the village.

One day, a wealthy nobleman from another region arrived. He was fascinated by the lake’s beauty, but his intentions were selfish. He wanted to take control of Situ Cibeureum and turn it into his private land for hunting and entertainment. The villagers protested, explaining that the lake was their only source of water and life. However, the nobleman ignored them and ordered his guards to seize the area.

That night, filled with worry and sadness, Nyi Raras went alone to the edge of the lake. Under the moonlight, she prayed sincerely for protection for the village, the people, and the sacred lake she loved so dearly. As she prayed, the wind grew stronger, and the water began to ripple. Suddenly, a soft reddish glow rose from the depths of the lake, illuminating the darkness.

The next morning, when the nobleman returned, something strange happened. The water of Situ Cibeureum started to rise rapidly. The lake overflowed, and its color turned a deep red, shining like fire. The guards were terrified and unable to move closer. No matter how hard they tried, they could not cross the lake.

Realizing that the lake was protected by a powerful force, the nobleman fled in fear and never returned. As the water slowly returned to normal, Nyi Raras was nowhere to be found. The villagers believed that she had become the guardian spirit of Situ Cibeureum, sacrificing herself to protect her home.

To this day, the people believe that Situ Cibeureum remains calm as long as humans respect nature. But if greed and arrogance return, the lake will once again show its power.

Long story short, a fierce fight broke out between Serunting and Aria Tebing. During the conflict, Aria Tebing persuaded his sister to reveal Serunting’s weakness. After learning this secret, Aria Tebing managed to defeat Serunting.

After his defeat, Serunting went to meditate on Mount Siguntang. There, Dewa Mahameru promised him a magical power: the ability to turn anything into stone with his words. By the edge of a lake, Serunting turned yellowed sugarcane trees into stone, as well as people who passed in front of him. Because of this power, he became known as Si Pahit Lidah.

In the end, Serunting realized his mistakes and became more careful with his words. Although his speech became gentler, he was still remembered by the people as Si Pahit Lidah.

Raden Intan II was a brave hero from Lampung, Indonesia. He was born in the early 19th century and became a leader of the Lampung people. He was famous for his courage, intelligence, and strong love for his homeland.

At that time, the Dutch colonial government controlled many parts of Indonesia, including Lampung. Raden Intan II did not accept this situation. He believed that his people should be free and live with dignity. Because of this, he led the people of Lampung to fight against Dutch rule.

Raden Intan II organized resistance and built strong defenses. Many people respected him and followed his leadership. The Dutch considered him a serious threat because he never gave up, even when the enemy was stronger.

Unfortunately, after many battles, Raden Intan II was captured by the Dutch. In 1856, he was executed. Even though he died, his spirit and bravery continued to inspire the people of Lampung.

Today, Raden Intan II is remembered as a national hero of Indonesia. His name is used for important places in Lampung, such as Raden Intan II Airport. His story teaches us about bravery, leadership, and love for freedom.

The chief later dreamed of a beautiful princess, the dragon’s incarnation, who asked him to build a bamboo ladder so the dragon could descend from the stilt house and crawl toward the river. She instructed them to follow the dragon, scatter yellow rice, burn black sesame, and later follow the bubbles on the river’s surface.

The dragon crawled to the Mahakam River, swam several times upstream and downstream, then dived. A violent storm followed, but soon the river became calm. From the bubbles emerged a glowing gong containing a baby girl, supported by the dragon and a mystical creature called Lembuswana. The creatures disappeared, leaving the gong behind.

The baby was taken home and lovingly raised by the chief and his wife. She was named Puteri Karang Melenu, who later became the wife of the first king of Kutai Kartanegara, Aji Batara Agung Dewa Sakti.

As a result of the curse, Dewi Kadita was struck by a terrible illness that caused her body to rot and emit a foul smell. Ashamed and heartbroken, she was forced to leave the palace and wander alone. After days of suffering, she heard a mysterious voice guiding her to the Southern Sea. When she entered the ocean, the waves washed away her illness and restored her beauty. At that moment, she transformed into a powerful spiritual being.

Dewi Kadita then became Nyi Roro Kidul, the immortal Queen of the Southern Sea. She ruled the ocean with great power and wisdom, controlling storms and protecting the balance between nature and the spiritual world. Over time, she formed a mystical bond with the kings of Java, especially the rulers of Mataram, symbolizing harmony between earthly power and the unseen realm.

“Siuk Bimbim! Where are you?” he shouted, panic rising.

There was no response. As he looked at the footprints leading away from the house, his heart trembled. The prints were not his brother's; they were the giant's!

“Bimbim, no! Where are you?” he cried again, searching everywhere.

Finally, he spotted a small figure beneath a tree, his brother lying unconscious.

“Bimbim! Wake up, Bimbim!” Siuk Bambam rushed over and shook him gently.

However, this happiness did not last long. Buyung's parents had arranged his marriage with another woman from a prominent family. Buyung did not dare to oppose his parents' decision, even though he deeply loved Esi.

One day, Buyung finally told Esi.

Buyung: "Esi... my parents have arranged my marriage. I cannot go against their will."

Esi: "So your love for me must end like this?"

Hearing this, Esi's heart was broken. She felt betrayed and deeply hurt. From then on, Esi often cried alone by the riverbank. Her tears seemed never-ending, filled with sadness and pent-up resentment.

Legend has it that the river overflowed its banks, eventually submerging the surrounding area and turning into a lake. Locals believe the lake was formed from Esi's unending tears and sorrow, hence the name Lake dendam tak sudah.

To this day, the lake bears witness to a failed love story due to arranged marriages and obedience to parents

The king then traveled to Kutai to visit the queen’s kingdom and propose marriage to her. During their meeting, the queen welcomed him warmly. She served the king and his entourage a variety of special dishes, and the king ate them eagerly. Unfortunately, the way the king ate made the queen feel disgusted. He ate greedily, and in the queen’s eyes, his manners were very improper.

The queen had already decided to refuse the king’s proposal. When the king asked for her answer, she firmly said that she could not accept it. He then asked for the reason, and the queen, speaking rather harshly, honestly said that the way he had eaten earlier had disgusted her. Hearing this, the king was deeply hurt and felt humiliated. The Chinese king’s troops then returned home in burning anger.

Unexpectedly, several months later, the troops came back to the kingdom of Ratu Aji Bidara Putih. This time, their arrival was to wipe out all of the queen’s forces and destroy her kingdom. The situation in the kingdom became chaotic, and the queen grew very worried about the future of her land.

While chewing betel leaves, she prayed that the chewed betel juice from her mouth would turn into fierce centipedes that could kill all the invading troops of the Chinese king. In the end, her prayer was answered. The betel spittle from her mouth transformed into vicious centipedes. These centipedes attacked all of the Chinese king’s soldiers until they were dead, and they also gnawed at the ships, causing them to sink to the bottom of the lake.

The end.

One day, a mysterious and handsome man named Antang Taung came to the village. The two fell in love and eventually married. However, Antang Taung had a secret, he was not an ordinary human. He was a supernatural being. From their marriage, they did not have biological children, but instead they adopted two creatures that appeared as a Porcupine and a Tomang fish. Despite their strange appearance, Tapih loved them dearly.

When these adopted children passed away, the villagers prepared a traditional funeral. To their horror, when they opened the coffins later, they didn't find human remains, but instead the bones of a porcupine and fish scales. The villagers felt deceived and cursed the family, accusing them of being inhuman.

Ashamed and heartbroken, Tapih and her family fled deep into the forest to live in isolation.

Over generations, their descendants were said to have inherited a curse. By day, they looked like beautiful or handsome humans, but by night, their spirits in the form of a head and organs would leave their bodies to find food. These descendants became known as the Hantuen.

Unlike other ghosts, Hantuen are considered a hidden tribe or a lineage rather than just spirits of head.

They lived happily and had a son named Samosir, who was kind but lazy. One day, Samosir forgot to deliver his father’s lunch to the fields. Angry and disappointed, Toba shouted that Samosir was “the son of a fish”, breaking his promise.

The woman was deeply hurt. She asked Samosir to go to the hills while she returned to the river. Soon, heavy rain flooded the land, forming a vast lake. Samosir survived on the hill, which became an island in the middle of the lake.

The lake was later known as Lake Toba, and the island as Samosir Island, reminding people of the importance of keeping promises.

Narrator: In a forest that belongs to no legend and no world,four characters from different stories suddenly appear. They do not know each other. They do not know why they are here. But their stories… have come to life.

(Harley Queen enters, looking around.)

Harley Queen: Okay… this is definitely not Gotham. No buildings, no chaos—and that’s suspicious. I am totally lost.

(Dayang Sumbi enters.)

Dayang Sumbi: Oh my…Where am I? Just a moment ago, I was weaving at home.

(Timun Mas enters, slightly running.)

Timun Mas: I’m alive… but this is not the path I ran through.

(Toba enters calmly.)

Toba: The lake is gone. This place feels… unfamiliar.

SCENE 2 – STRANGERS

Narrator: They stand in silence, looking at one another four strangers in one strange forest.

Harley Queen: Alright, before I start panicking—who are you people?

Dayang Sumbi: My name is Dayang Sumbi. I come from a folk tale passed down through generations.

Timun Mas: I am Timun Mas. I have spent my life running to survive.

Toba: My name is Toba. My story ends in regret and disaster.

Harley Queen: Huh…Folklore, legends, and me. That's a weird mix.

SCENE 3 – A STRANGE REALIZATION

Narrator: Something feels different. No danger chases them. No story pushes them forward.

Timun Mas: Usually, I am always afraid. But now… I only feel confused.

Dayang Sumbi: It feels as if destiny has stopped.

Toba: Or perhaps… we’ve been given another chance.

Harley Queen: A chance without rules? I like that.

SCENE 4 – WALKING TOGETHER

Narrator: With no answers around them, they choose to walk together.

Dayang Sumbi: I don’t know where this path leads.

Timun Mas: But I don’t want to be alone anymore.

Toba: We must protect one another.

Harley Queen: A random team… but a promising one.

SCENE 5 – FINDING THEIR TOOLS

Narrator: In the middle of the forest, something familiar awaits them.

Timun Mas: Wait… look over there!

Dayang Sumbi: My weaving tools… I feel stronger holding them.

Toba: My staff and supplies… they remind me of responsibility.

Timun Mas: The cucumber seeds, salt, and shrimp paste… I can protect myself again.

Harley Queen: And this hammer? Yeah. Now I feel complete.

SCENE 6 – THE MEANING OF THE JOURNEY

Narrator: These tools are not just objects. They remind them of who they are.

Dayang Sumbi: Maybe we are not lost.

Timun Mas: Maybe we were brought together.

Toba: To learn from each other’s stories.

Harley Queen: Or to create a brand-new one.

SCENE 7 – CLOSING

Narrator: The forest is still full of mystery. But now, they walk with purpose.

Timun Mas: Whatever happens…

Toba: We are no longer just characters.

Many years later, Sangkuriang returned as a strong young man. He met Dayang Sumbi again, but neither of them recognized each other. They fell in love and planned to marry. When Dayang Sumbi realized that he was her son, she tried to stop the marriage by giving him an impossible task : to build a boat and a lake in one night.

With the help of spirits, Sangkuriang almost finished the task. Dayang Sumbi tricked him by making the sky look like morning. Feeling angry and disappointed, Sangkuriang kicked the boat, which then turned into Mount Tangkuban Perahu
