Agency has played a huge role in my life in many ways, some positive others negative. a positive way id say it effected me was in school I was lucky enough to get teachers who allowed me to take the time in class and always asked for help which really helped me understand but I think in my Homelife it could have been too hectic for me because I have 2 split families with two completely different households who did things very differently

this played a role in my early childhood because in second grade I moved to a neighborhood that was 90 percent white and was the only black person in my neighborhood I've only experienced to my face one time when I was profiled by someones parents for bulling their child even though I didn't.

my whole life ive ever only learned English this is because this is all my parents ever taught me I tried to learn asl once but I eventually gave up. this has not affected me too much but now that I have a bilingual girlfriend hopefully it can change spoon

ableism has showed up in my life a lot more than I would've though. growing up I was a pretty smart kid but always struggled with my reading now that I know I am dyslexic I wish there were more attempts to help me in classrooms to accommodate for my reading issues

the outdoors impacted me a lot. Lots of my time as a kid was spent outside with my brother either playing basketball, boxing, or inviting friends over for nerf wars but it also taught me essential lessons like knowing if I get a cut from falling you have to clean it because It could become infected.

I think Piaget’s theory really relates to my childhood, especially when I was playing football. He believed that kids learn in stages and I saw that happen as I got older. When I was around five to eight years old if I couldn’t beat someone, my parents would just tell me to try again and keep practicing. Between the ages of ten and fourteen, my coaches started telling me to get stronger and lift weights if I wanted to keep up. Once I turned fifteen it was more about learning real techniques and figuring out how to stop what my opponent was doing. The way I was taught changed as I got older and looking back, it shows how my learning developed over time just like Piaget talked about.
