From the text, we get a good idea what Laylor looks like. Why do you think the narrator did not notice the condition of Laylor’s clothes and generally cleanliness until this moment? What does it say about the narrator? (p. 17, l.106- p.4, l. 120) 

At first the narrator wasn't concerned about laylors condition, she simply wasn't seeing all her details - maybe because she was more occupied about the whole scenario ''that she was talking and making friends with a stranger, which she didn't think she was capable of'' - it tells us that the narrator isn't that aware of her fellows, and maybe a little bit selfish.

In the second part of this excerpt from the story, the narrator becomes quite hostile in her attitude to Laylor. Find examples of specific words that underline the narrator’s hostility.  

''ugly gap when she smiled'', ''she smelled of mildewed washing'', ''imaging her dragging that awful smell into my kitchen '', ''her big face with its pantomime eyebrows leering over my son'' etc.

she thinks that laylor is gonna make her life even more complicated, especially because she is a single mother - laylor is going to ruin her outlook

the narrator is a single mother living in London with son, she isn't a extrovert and hates to talk to strangers - her grandmother is an immigrant from Carribean, so she is not fully english
laylor on the other hand is an first immigrant from Uzbekistan, her parents just went to prison three days before the meeting in London, now her and her brother is living on the streets of London because thats safer that being in there home country

She started not wanting to help her, but then she was thinking about her grandmother, who came to England and was homeless. And she told the narrator that, there was a stranger who gave her a place to sleep for the night. And she wanted to do the same thing to her. But in the end, she decided to take the exit and leave her 
 
8- Comment on the title of the short story- Loose Change 
The title Loose Change, makes sense to the short story. Because the narrator and Laylor’s “friendship” started because the narrator needed loose change for the bathroom.
