Corporal punishment refers to any physical or emotional pain. Learners of today are misbehaving and they do not respect their teachers simply because they know that they have rights. Corporal punishment helps a learner to be obedient, respectful and polite. In most schools where corporal punishment is used learners take their studies serious unlike here at Western cape. Many learners are failing in high school and they repeat same grade over and over again, if corporal punishment was used maybe some of them would be far by now. As much as a this corporal punishment helps teachers to bring children under control it puts their lives at risk, because some learners when they are being punished they want to fight with their teachers. Each and every year teachers die in schools they are being killed by learners who do not want to be punished like other learners. Government need to intervene on this issue of learners who bring weapons at school to kill their teachers because now teachers are not safe within school premises.
