"The Necklace is a story with many sides to it, but it has one overarching theme to support it; to not be greedy, for it will lead you to carelessness, anguish, and manipulation."

It was stated before that Loisel had already had a dress, one that her husband thought was impressive, yet she manipulates her husband to give her HIS money to buy her a dress; money he was planning on using on something import. She does this by whining and sobbing until he gives her the money, a childish tactic to guilt trip someone into giving them what they want.

"By the end of a week they had lost all hope. Loisel, who had aged five years, declared: 'We must see about replacing the diamonds.'" (pg. 6)

The segment "who had aged five years" is a metaphor. It was explained that they had searched tirelessly for the necklace, and out out of stress, Madame Loisel had "aged five years". Every action leading up to this point had been because of her greedy character, and it has caused her to end up anguished.

"She danced madly, ecstatically, drunk with pleasure, with no thought for anything, in the triumph of her beauty..." (pg. 4)

The description of her pleasure practically screams 'carelessness'. The use of the phrases 'drunk', 'no thought for anything', or 'her beauty' are obvious descriptors of a careless person. It's a segway to Madame Loisel losing her necklace in the moment, and desperately trying to get it back by any means necessary because of her negligent actions.

"And she smiled in proud and innocent happiness. Madame Forestier, deeply moved, took her two hands." (pg. 8)

Madame Loisel had chosen to be honest finally, and the description of Forestier's reaction, like when she was "deeply moved", portrays Loisel as if a weight was being lifted off of her shoulders. It was her selfless actions in a moment of desperation and honesty that restored Loisel's health and relationship.
