Sophie born 1921 lived in Ludwigsburg from 1930 to 1932. In 1937 her brother and their adjoined friend were arrested for participating in the German youth movement- an anti-Nazi organization, In 1940, she became a kindergarten teacher hoping to avoid war service, only to have to follow policy and serve 6 months as a nursery teacher in Blumberg,in order to get into university. Her experiences caused her worldview to change and she started practicing passive resistance, this is when she starts her journey into history.

In the mid-1930’s and over, member of the white rose with her brother and his friends, practiced passive resistance, after leaving school in 1932. After finding out her brothers activities- in the white rose -she joined(her brother was not happy about it), though contrary to popular belief, Sophie did not co-author any of the anti-Nazi leaflets. She was an invaluable member [of the white rose] since police were less likely to stop her in the street (while she was carrying/passing out leaflets), without the knowledge of the said authorities. On February 11th 1943, the group was arrested for being caught passing out the ant-Nazi propaganda, a little over a week later (actually 11 days), Sophie and the other members of the white rose were beheaded.

My personal view of Sophie

Sophie, she was a source, many of the little sayings we have and use today. She was an inspiration in her own right. Sophie wasn't a Jew, but she still fought for them; sure Sophie was protecting more than a bunch of strangers, she was protecting herself and those she loved. Then again, if she just kept her head down and dealt with it she could've lived past 21...and her brother could have too.
