I couldn't help but smile as I was taking this self-evaluation. I kept thinking how differently I would have answered these questions 10-11 years ago before I started teaching. It is amazing how this profession has shaped me into the person I am today. What is even more exciting is how much I look forward to the continued growth and learning that will take place over the next 30(ish) years. It was great to reflect on my relationships and optimism. Those are definitely two areas that have come a long way in my life. I would have rated those statements very differently in my past. I guess in a way, I can think of that growth I have made as resilience.
The video clip had some great reflections as well. As the speaker referenced the first-year teacher she was assigned to coach, I thought about so many teachers who have felt completely overwhelmed in their first year(s) and speak about leaving the profession. It is so important to build relationships with young teachers and be that coach who encourages and helps build resilience in our newer teachers.

Video- I think we all think we should be experts on everything because we see experts on tv, internet, and movies all the time. We get caught up in cycles and really don't know who to turn to. People all need to find ways to get better with jobs, family, and personal lives. I also watched the next video on the coaching session. I really saw how I used to think about kids and teaching. One large idea is how are you teaching the kids to be good note takers, team players, and how to turn in homework. I used to think kids would just do all these things because the teacher is leading, not that way anymore. It took me a long time to understand how to teach kids along the way of learning those note taking, team building, and homework completion. Survey- I really had a good score on the forming relationships and Orientation on solutions and aims. I really do like to talk and understand people, try to put them first and try to see how my actions can be seen as selfish. I also like goals and having a clear vision. I find I am connected to many of my teaching friends at school and outside of school. A couple of areas on the evaluation was on my own self perception. I find it difficult to give myself little wins day to day, because my goals for each day are full. I think I need to do a better job of understanding the little wins add to the large meaningful life accomplishments. I usually let too much control me that I am not in control of. I am working on this and have really started to enjoy reading about this topic.
