This story is not well known by many people but it is my absolute favorite book that my mom would read to me as a child. My mom and dad gave it to me as a gift on August 22, 2002. I would say this story is influential to me because it brings back a lot of memories. Memories that include my mom reading it to me before bedtime, to reading it myself when I was learning how to read. When I have kids one day, I plan on gifting it to them and following the same learning and teaching path my mom did.

I was assigned to read this story in Eleventh grade. This is one of the few books I actually decided to read. In the story, the young girl goes through many obstacles in her lifetime. One particular obstacle she has to deal with is hr father. Her father is an alcoholic, who tries to get sober, but never could. When I was in high school I also had to live with an alcoholic father, so I could relate to the story on a personal level, and it turned out to be one of my favorite books.

Amelia Bedelia Series By: Peggy Parish

This series was my ABSOLUTE favorite series when I was in elementary school. The one story I remember the most is when Amelia was given a chores list and on it was to make a sponge cake, well...she actually put dish sponges in the cake. I have special memories with these stories, like laughing with all of my friends in the library during library time reading these books.

As embarrassing as it is to say, I am not an avid reader. When I read I usually get distracted easily and will find myself reading the same page over and over again. The only time I found myself reading was if I was being tested, if the story was very interesting, or if I related to the story on a personal level.
As I have gotten older, I have started to appreciate reading a little bit more, because I am able to relate to more. I have to admit though, picture books and children's books will always remain to be my favorite.
