In "Pyramus and Thisbe" two strong lovers were forced to keep hidden. In the story, it says, "They longed to marry, but their parents forbade." Like Thisbe, Juliet had a forbidden love taken apart by her parents and forced to keep her love a secret. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, two lovers, Romeo and Juliet were forbidden to be together. The feud between the Capulets' and Montagues' caused hatred towards each other. If being friends with each other was a problem, imagine learning your kid had married the enemy. In Act 3 Scene 5, Lady Capulet tells Juliet, "..As that the villain lives which slaughtered him." Here Lady Capulet is talking about Romeo, an enemy. Both loves were... forbidden.

In the story "Pyramus and Thisbe" they were separated by a wall which prevented their love towards each other. They would talk through the little chink; no one noticed that was dividing the houses. They said, “But at least you let us speak together. You give a passage for loving words to reach loving ears. We are not ungrateful.” Although in Romeo and Juliet the “little chink” in this story was the nurse who allowed them a little freedom by allowing them to send messages and see each other. The Romeo says, “what wilt thou tell her, Nurse? Thou dost not mark me.” Romeo's exile due to Tybalt’s death separated them. For, Romeo was not grateful for his banishment and said, “’Tis torture and not mercy. Heaven is here, Where Juliet lives.” Romeo's banishment made both Romeo and Juliet devastated. They did anything to be together, to the point where they killed themselves.

(ABSENT 12/6) but finished it at home

As a result of bad timing and unfortunate circumstances, Pyramus kills himself thinking that Thisbe is dead. Thisbe discovers his body and kills herself. Thus, they die and the two families they belonged to learn to love each other. A classic tale of two star-crossed lovers. Shakespeare was inspired from "Pyramus and Thisbe" to make one of his most popular plays, Romeo and Juliet. To end each story, each couple brutally kills themselves, all from misunderstanding.
Romeo's last words: "Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide. / Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on / The dashing rocks thy seasick, weary bark. / Here’s to my love! (drinks the poison)O true apothecary, / Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die."
Juliet's last words: "O happy dagger, / This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die. / (stabs herself with ROMEO’s dagger and dies)"

In "Pyramus and Thisbe," the families lived in "houses so close together." Only a single wall separated the lovers from seeing each other. This is a symbol shown in Romeo and Juliet as well.

"Two households both alike in dignity" (Prologue, Line 1)
Although the "houses" in Romeo and Juliet were symbolized through their last names, the same conception is used to show that there is something separating the two people.

In "Pyramus and Thisbe," the two lovers would communicate through a chink in the wall. Shakespeare was incredibly clever and converted the chink in the wall to a person. The nurse, Juliet's caretaker, is that person. Ever since the party to when Romeo was sent to Mantua, the nurse was their way for communication.
"Go ask his name.—If he be married. / My grave is like to be my wedding bed. Go ask. / (the nurse leaves) / If he’s married, I think I’ll die rather than marry anyone else."
"His name is Romeo, and a Montague, / The only son of your great enemy."
"And as I told you, my young lady bid me inquire you out. What she bade me say, I will keep to myself. But first let me tell ye, if ye should lead her into a fool’s paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behavior, as they say. For the gentlewoman is young, and therefore, if you should deal double with her, truly it were an ill thing to be offered to any gentlewoman, and very weak dealing."
"Here, sir, a ring she bid me give you, sir. / (gives ROMEO JULIET’s ring) / Hie you, make haste, for it grows very late."

While, in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo states “Then I defy you stars” he said this after figuring out his wife, Juliet, was laying in her deathbed and drank a potion to join her in a deep slumber.
